Conservatives, do you really but this BS? What about the reason or aim for an investigation would influence whether someone chose to tell their truth and defend their innocent position? It's the kind of statement made often on shows like To Catch a Predator. The suspect tries to play off the whole encounter by saying he was just dropping over to help someone study, a ludacris explanation that sounds sane to him.

Your guy is guilty and he's going to answer for it. He'll either be convicted of crimes or he'll die a victim and unrealized in greatness, mired in very unflattering press and allegations. I'm not sure which one I hope for.

Let's wait for the blowback before we start predicting Trump's fate, which I still think hinges largely not on facts or legal institutions but the resilience of Trumpist faith and willingness to burn down the country for him.

Pleading the 5th to every question but his name is wholly consistent with the guy who bragged about being able to kill someone on 5th Avenue without losing his supporters.

Sure, he seems boxed into a corner, but aside from his personal greed, the other major theme of Trumpism is draining the swamp, owning the libs, and destroying institutions and social conventions that get in the way of those things.

He basically gave the civil justice the middle finger yesterday, and I'm not sure the consequences of that are going to matter that much as long as he can still "fundraise" or get money from his followers who hope for a piece of his action, whether it be monetary or maleovolence.

Of course, I apologize if my response is off topic. You asked Conservatives a question, and neither I nor die hard Trump supporters really fit that bill. But I still think those folks, and the reaction of others, liberal, conservative, independent, or politically uninterested to Trumpist reaction will hold the key to both Trump's fate and that of the country.

How serious are Trumpist threats and how do non-Trumpists react to them, imo, seems to be the real key here. Magistrate Judge Reinhart is getting death threats, for example, and while I'd sort of like to think prosecutors and other Judges and jurors might do their duty in the face of stuff like this, I'm not naive enough to think that its a sure thing.
