@LordShadowfire What I can never tell is whether people are just accidentally missing the point of an article, incapable of understanding the article, intentionally misrepresenting the article, or more likely, not even reading the article and using the abstract or title as a pretext for a rant or rave.
Poland named them and alien invasive animal, not a space alien. NBC, doing its job, reported that development.
Two years including 585 million known cases of a pandemic virus with 6.24 million deaths and rising. NBC reports on this as a development globally. Again, their job.
Let me save you the trouble - they're probably going to talk about some flooding, fires, droughts and climate change. Just take it for what it is; reporting the news.

If you actually read the article, you'd see it never said cats were from another planet 🤦♀️ They were likely African wildcats domesticated in the Middle East (disclosure: I am a cat lover).
Cats would be less of a problem to the environment if cat owners had always kept their cats indoors, and kept them spayed/neutered. This is not rocket science.
This is also something people have been acknowledging for years, e.g., the BBC article below is from 2013:
You do realize that an invasive alien species does not originate from another planet? Cats originated in the Middle East, and now live on every continent but Antarctica. However, I would not expect someone who does not understand how a vaccine works to be able to comprehend a simple concept like this.
