The Chinese figure they can intimidate Biden whereas they knew they couldn't intimidate Trump
BizSuitStacy · M
@HoraceGreenley No question they own Biden. I'm just surprised the CCP was so quiet about citizen Pompeo acting as unauthorized foreign diplomat. No one within the Biden administration had much to say about it either.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@BizSuitStacy The Chinese bought the Biden family

China knows US "leadership" is pathetic and weak under the Democrat Party.
RocktheHouse · M
@graphite it's not just the leadership it's the United States itself
RocktheHouse · M
@graphite the United States doesn't have the power it once had. If China wants to take Taiwan, there's nothing in the United States can do about it.
It seems from news reports the administration is not exactly sure as to what’s going on, with this supposed August trip to Taiwan, yet the Chinese are angry and a former member of the CCP urges forceful action should Pelosi go to Taiwan. Dangerous rhetoric, potential for trouble.
If they’re saber rattling and there’s any truth to the administration being however unaware of her trip, then to turn down the heat, Joe does one or two things: 1 tells her and her delegation they can’t go or 2, if for whatever reason(s) he can’t prevent them from going, then do what Trump did to her when she wanted to go to Afghanistan - deny them the use of government aircraft. Let them foot the bill..
As for Pompeo, he carried more sway than Pelosi ever wii and was a great Secretary of State. She’s nothing compared to him.

@soar2newhighs I'm still not quite sure what's up with this.
@BizSuitStacy Don’t worry . From the news items on this that I read, even the WH didn’t know either what was/is going on.
Supposedly Biden and Xi are to meet some time in the not too distant future. And if Pelosi’s visit goes through it might make for a very awkward situation for Biden.

On the news today some a-hole blonde was even saying she thought that Nasty SHOULD go to Taiwan, and promise to fund them in their war against China.
If that eff burger goes to Taiwan it will destabilize the entire area.
Mike Pompeo has zero power, and Nasty can actually put money on the table.
I think it more likely that she will be making sure her husband's new investment is safe, OR trying to convince Invidia to move to the States.

@4meAndyou There is more going on here than meets the eye. China absolutely owns the Biden family, and ultimately, the dems. The dots aren't lining up.
Again reading about this the item I read re: forceful measures suggested flying Chinese jets over Taiwan. Not a wise move. The Taiwanese AF would most likely intercept and possibly get into an armed exchange.
BizSuitStacy · M
@soar2newhighs China has been flying their jets near Taiwan lately. Not something they did during Trump's tenure...only Biden's.
@BizSuitStacy I’m guessing here, but Biden did say we’re committed to defending Taiwan. Yet the WH apparently walked his comments back ( I believe he espoused it more than once) , citing our stance (current and perhaps past administrations since 79) of ambiguity toward Taiwan. Yet we have much going on with and in Taiwan
And as you post, the Chinese have flown “ near”, not over Taiwan or violated
It was a great tour of duty 73-74!

their airspace .

I think Taiwan is a sovereign nation but don't think the US should be antagonizing China about it when as it is now they are independent. Leave it alone.
@DffrntDrmmr I served there. Don’t want to see the Island invaded. But if it is will Biden back up his statements regarding a U.S. commitment to defend Taiwan?
DffrntDrmmr · M
@soar2newhighs It does sound like they might have plans to do so.
That was a bold statement by him — but not in a good way. I think that to China it was a provocation (the administration's retraction matters little). I suspect they're now more resolved than they were to seize control of Taiwan at some point. I doubt the US could win that one mission in the long run, and certainly could not force China to surrender in an all-out war (an unlikely war, anyway).

Why would china care if she goes there? She is their Hoe
BizSuitStacy · M
@FreestyleArt Yeah...this doesn't really add up.
WillaKissing · 56-60
Pelosi funny that the Chinese want to intimidate a Nation over a Moron's visit.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Rattling Biden’s cage is all they are doing
BizSuitStacy · M
@cherokeepatti They do own Joe. Still find this situation odd.
RocktheHouse · M
Seems like a double standards. The United States support Taiwan but doesn't support the Donbass region or Crimea. Do you know that historically Taiwan was a part of China before it was Annex by Japan?
So why is it not China's right to bring Taiwan back? And what does this have to do with the United States?

@RocktheHouse Perhaps had Mao and his forces followed Chiang Kai Shek to Formosa his forces might have defeated him there and we wouldn’t today have the issue. But he didn’t nor did any of his successors from 1979 to present ever attempt it. Why?
I was there mid 70s and it would not have been in China’s best interests to have attacked.
Though not spoken of much, the U.S. is still very much involved with Taiwan.
As for Crimea / Donbass vs. Taiwan we were not to my knowledge a military force in those regions. We were in Taiwan. When Crimea and Georgia were under attack by Russia, we did nothing. The same when China took Islands claimed by the Philippines with whom we had and still do a treaty which means we’d defend them if attacked. The administration came up with some bogus reason why we didn’t ( the seized islands it’s alleged we’re not part of the treaty. Yes they were a part of Philippine sovereignty. ) Simple, the administration was leery of China and failed its commitment .

So now we’re at a point where Biden has said we’ll defend Taiwan, yet the specter of China invading looms.
