Capitol Demonstration Question

Here’s a question no one is asking. Why was Trump, leader of the Executive branch, responsible for protecting the Capitol, the home of the Legislative branch? Why aren’t Schumer and Pelosi on the hook for protecting the Capitol? It’s their office building.

Because the "buck stops at the top," the chief executive officer of the US is the sitting president!
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 So the President is responsible for everything that happens on his watch?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sunsporter1649 ultimately, I think that is how it works. That is not my statement, it started, at least, with Truman whose desk had the sign on it, stating that phrase. Obviously, it shouldn't be taken too literally, as you probably would, but it states a philosophy.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 So it's sippy-cup that screwed up the economy? How generous of you to acknowledge that
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sunsporter1649 he would be held responsible, but first of all, you malign POTUS with your inane description, but, the economy was on bad footing when current POTUS came into office. Certainly there are some had indicators for the current economy, on the other hand, we have more new jobs reported every month, the unemployment rate is the lowest in years, there is even evidence that the inflation may have peaked.

Go ahead and spew your distaste for me, but those are the reported figures.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 I know this confuses you but the economy has been global since your side lost WW2.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sunsporter1649 you love putting your head in the sand and ignore what is clear in your face. Enjoy your nonsense, just because you find what you think is a funny cartoon doesn't mean you are on the right track!
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 Yes, we all know, left-wing nut-job marxists are incapable of screwing things up, it's always somebody else's fault, right?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sunsporter1649 keep it up, you make yourself look ever more insane with the each inane phrase. Who are those who are failing to admit their mistakes?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 Let's see, 1.2% to 9.1% rate in 18 months! Did not think it could be possible, did you?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sunsporter1649 why quote only one indicator, actually the inflation is somewhat of a false indicator, since the major driver is the cost of oil and resultant costs in transportation as in moving goods and services. If oil prices continue to fall, inflation will follow. Meanwhile, the big oil companies are earning greater funds then ever!
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 When it gets back to 1.2 give us a call
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sunsporter1649 let's hope we do not return to the almost recession we were in during COVID! Without the federal infusion, partially responsible for the overheating of the economy, where do you think we would now be? While you are at it, where are all those jobs being stolen by immigrants now? Everywhere I turn the excuse for slowness in every industry is blamed on lack of staff! We need immigrants to help fuel our growth.

samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sunsporter1649 do you really think you are being funny, or are you just insane?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 Ain't nuttin funny about you left-wing nut-job marxists screwing up everything you stick your nose into
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 I guess you don't know much about the chain of command. Trump did his part. The others who had to go along with Trump to prevent the riot didn't do that. The president is not a dictator.
@sunsporter1649 More incoherent word salad. And I see you are still stuck in your paranoid delusions since the lunatic Joe McCarthy was still breathing.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@hippyjoe1955 The chain of command stops with the commander in chief! He refused to call in the national guard. There is enough evidence showing he was the person who blocked that.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 Actually it doesn't. The riot came to pass because the democrats wanted a riot to go after Trump. Trump had authorized the use of the National Guard. Pelosi and Schumer and Bowser all said no to the National Guard. The president is not a dictator. He can only do what he is authorized to do.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@hippyjoe1955 wow, where on earth did you get your information? it is so wrong! i can not even fathom your complete denial of the information available. Even Fox News has carried a lot of information directly conflicting your statements. Please, review the information before posting. Who wanted Pense to do things he was not empowered to do, which led to the riots, who called for his hanging? Certainly not the democrats, although this really wasn't, I hope, a democrat versus republican thing, it was the work of what I will call the lunatic fringe! At what point do you think the people you mentioned were involved in any decision regarding the national guard? Once the riot broke out, who delayed the use of anything except the capital police? Have you no knowledge. I give up with you, read the documentation!
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 It is you that is misinformed. Go check the amierican system. The president is not a dictator. He has very limited powers when it comes to policing. He can authorize the use of the national guard but then the state governor or in the case of Washington DC the mayor must also authorize the national guard. The 'commander in chief' is commander of the Armed Forces of which the National Guard is not part of. The president can not use the military domestically. You seem to be very unaware of the roll of POTUS. Maybe a lesson in civics would help.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@hippyjoe1955 I give up, you tend to like to sidestep the issues. You will never accept responsibility for your mistatements, you are blind to the movement in this country that is totally undemocratic, and extremely dangerous. I hope you will be happy with yourself and others like you, when the country we loved and fought for, disappears in the ash heap of history.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 Sidestep what? You think the POTUS is a dictator and he is not. He can not send in the National guard or the military. He needs to coordinate with the local authorities. If Chicago were having a riot the mayor could ask the POTUS for the national guard and the president could authorize the use thereof. However it is up to the mayor to decide she wants to use the guard or not. Ditto the state governors. The POTUS has very limited 'policing' powers. You just keep making a bigger and bigger fool of yourself.
