DeSantis, that lovable pander-bear.

A new law in Florida has instituted restrictions on how schools and businesses can teach race-related concepts. The law, called the Stop Woke Act, limits instruction on critical race theory. It's the latest part of Republican Gov. Ron Desantis’ extensive efforts to reshape public education and curriculum in the state.

Because Florida doesn't have enough crazy to deal with already, we have to make laws against things that don't even exist.

After a hundred years of mocking the state, you conservatives might really want to consider where you're looking for your leadership.

Liberals obsession with Desantis proves one thing. They know he is successful and poses a threat to their very weak bench in'24. Florida's population is growing as voters leave failed blue states and take up residence where freedom lovers are welcome.
@Strictgram Looks like some old child molester is triggered.

@Strictgram If you were bright enough to read what you type and comprehend what it means.........LOTS of people from blue states are moving to Florida. So you think when you move you change zip codes.......and everything you have ever believed in.....even how you vote?? ;-) DUH!!! The more people that move to Florida from blue states and the more older Florida folks that have been residents for years--retiring there------die off........the more purple Florida gets to be. And sooner or later the younger blue state movers will erase what Deathsantis thinks his state loves........and him. The more you take from people..........the more they eventually hate you for it. And the Republican party is hellbent to take itself into purple. Trump lost Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia.......and more for a reason.

@Strictgram I just gave you demonstrable evidence to the contrary. And Ms. Dunning-Kruger, when you live here in Florida and I do not, then you may assume the role of "person who knows what they're talking about."

It's 'she,' bright eyes. And please don't make the mistake of comparing education.

It's called , "testing how far we can go with fascistic sh*t without having no repercussions altogether"
summersmiles · 51-55, F
Just from an ecological point of view it's heartbreaking to see this naturally beautiful state turning into an overcrowded overpopulated mess.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@summersmiles It makes me physically nauseous to drive here sometimes. We're building hand over fist just because we can. We're literally (and at lightning speed) destroying the very things people come here for.

DeSantis wants Florida to be the leading state in Gilead.

People die without the benefit of cannabis is Florida, because of Desantis and the two parties. Ever hear even one Dem say that's cruel and wrong?
Northwest · M
@Roundandroundwego You should ease off on the Cannabis. Don't look now, but President Biden, during his first policy speech, Feb 2021, said that his administration will seek the decriminalization of Cannabis, and most of the Western/Mountain Blue states, have already approved recreational Cannabis use. But I guess you have a canned speech you like to give, every single time, appropriateness be damned.

@Roundandroundwego

We enjoy a healthy and robust medical marijuana program that's closely monitored. We're one democratic governor away from recreational use.

And no one ever died because they couldn't get their weed.

Says the one who supports the crazy democrats.

Businesses now?
So, more small govt.

It is time to eject Florida from the union.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@independentone I feel that we should perhaps allow the former Confederate states a second shot at Independence. Let them secede, and move the former president's wall a bit north.
@CorvusBlackthorne Good idea, biggest mistake Lincoln made was going to war to keep those inbreds in the Union.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@CorvusBlackthorne We absolutely should do this. Invite secession. We would control our interactions, dealings, partnerships or lack thereof. They could affect this new nation only as much as we allowed them to and if necessary, they wouldn't have to be a trade partner. Necessity is the mother of invention and the North would be just fine. And then we'd show them what efficient but ultra-stringent border rules mean, 'cause they're not coming back.

A fantasy, and not wholly rooted in altruism or the high road. But rather than keep telling those of us who don't like the tearing part of this country to leave it, why not choose any one of the banana republics we're turning into? Try Venezuela or Sri Lanka. Russia's always looking for citizens and if you want to learn Chinese, now's the time. Authoritarian regimes are a dime a dozen; don't turn a perfectly good nation into one of them.
