Because he's still a figure in play. We still have people raising money for him, campaigning for him, campaigning for themselves with his blessing. And he has his own microphone.

Because people would rather duke it out in the sandbox about things like name recall or who's the biggest boogeyman than brush themselves off, educate themselves and have a civil, adult discussion about serious topics.

But we're a nation of video games, the newest phone and the Johnny Depp trial. We don't really care about the work, we just want our guy in there doing our bidding, and Trump is nothing if not a master snake oil salesman.

@Changeisgonnacome It's true. Though personally, I can lend my view. I'm glad the President addressed the country last night and I like that he has some practical solutions.

It's just that he's fallen into the great gentle myth that red flag laws and banning certain types of guns will do anything at all. We keep discussing rights that don't appear in the Constitution and then engage in fantasy-talk about solutions for things that aren't even the problem. It's bitterly disappointing and it's saddening. Literally, the rest of the world looks at us and sees idiocy and willing annihilation on this topic.
