Far-right leader hinting at traveling to Moscow for "talking about peace"

This while domestically he's pushing as hard as he can for stopping weapon transfers to Ukraine.

After all, what else can you expect from this guy?

It's interesting seeing how various elements on the right support Russia. For instance, a certain dippyjoe on here thinks that Russia is on the side of angels 😷 they can't help but mix their religion into it
Elessar · 26-30, M
@deadgerbil DippyJoe is committed into being against everything, he's just a far-contrarian more than a far-righter. Had the mainstream opinion shared mostly rightwing values he'd be the most fervent leftwinger or anarchist on the site, probably, lol
Elessar · 26-30, M
@deadgerbil Also, the League here is implicitated in a scandal about having received "donations" from influent people very close to Putin over the years. Just like Le Pen and other alt-right parties and leaders elsewhere. Follow the money, as the qultists say, lol
@deadgerbil Not surprising, though. Authoritarians support Authoritarianism.

To add to my point, you can also see the ideological affinity from the Trump supporters on here. SW Trumpsters are more online and more radical than most. I think most US Republicans probably support Ukraine against America's traditional enemy.

Even so, it speaks volumes that a section of his base can't aside any criticism of Vladimir Putin, even when Russia is at war with a US ally.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Moscow has funded Le Pen and I('m sure you know) at least tried to make huge donations to Liga.

It's not just Putin trying to buy influence (though it is that), it's about ideological commonality. Rightwing, reactionary ethno-nationalsts who seek to remake European liberal democracy in their own image.

Tbh I think the links between Trump and Putin are a bit overblown. Trump would have moved hard against Russia too because of American geo-political interests. The ideological link does however, exist there too.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Burnley123 Well yes, but at the end of the day an effective alliance or a convenience alliance is still an alliance. Clearly, the League (and other alt-right parties) seem to have an active interest in Russia coming out of this mess they've gotten themselves in alive.

I'm not sure about Trump but seeing how he handled the last global crisis I'm just glad he's sitting at mar-a-lago whining about "election fraud", than in the global office taking critical decisions.

I'm not entirely sure he's moved by American political interests either after seeing him actively try to hamper the containment of an (at the time) unknown pathogen actively spreading among the population of said country, with potentially unpredictable consequences. How would that be compatible with any country's own political interest? Unless it was a case of "let's try to go for herd immunity", a la Boris, gone really bad and unnecessarily for long, at most.

(Sorry, made some mess with posting this reply)

* oval office not global office lol

We're being groomed for war-. Nobody good cares About peace in the US media.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@Elessar you clearly have the NATO agenda, not the peace agenda, and you should get the last word-. Because the truth will need to go away so war can come out to play. Enjoy!!!!
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Changeisgonnacome When you'll have anything serious to propose feel free to get back to me.

As I've said you can take a flight to Moscow and try to talk Putin nicely out of the war. The quicker you are, the less weapons we will deliver in the meanwhile.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Changeisgonnacome You realize that Putin wanted to own the Ukraine right? That's kind of why he invaded, he actually used several different reasons why but bottom line is that he sees Ukraine as his right and his country. What negotiation do you prescribe? That the Ukraine just hand over their country to someone who wants to go back to the Soviet glory days?
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
It's clear he's a Putin puppet, he wants to pursue peace in Russia but if Russia wanted peace they wouldn't have done what they did. They cast the first stone.
smiler2012 · 56-60
personally i may be putting a negative angle on this i think he is wasting his time .other world leaders have tried without success .i think putin has rather backed himself into a corner on this one and he wants to show the russian people he is the strong man . it is a pity really a deal cannot be brokered as this has gone on too long now and the poor ukrainian people are the ones really suffering in all this [elessar]
How much money 💰 💵 💴 is showing up in his foreign accounts? 🤨
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Seems like just yesterday you all were saying the military has too many weapons now you want to give them away to a country who employs and pays politicians families billions of dollars every year
Elessar · 26-30, M
@MarineBob No one ever said "the military has too many weapons", actually. At most "random idiots shouldn't have easy access to assault rifles", which is quite a different concept for anyone with more than 2 neurons to be able to figure out the difference.

@jshm2 Actively trying to sabotage a defensive effort goes a bit farther than "just talk" in my book.

I really wish they had provided an eye roll reponse.

🙄
Elessar · 26-30, M
@JaggedLittlePill I really wish they had provided a "Vote to eject this politician out of the parliament" button lol
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@Elessar Yes, i can get on board with that.

Just surreal that anyone actually supports Putin ... the global right wing definitely lives in an alternate universe
