I now mute people who are obnoxious on political topics

No matter what side they’re on.

If you disagree with me, but you remain pleasant (and talk about non-political subjects sometimes), I will NOT mute you. I can handle civil disagreement. But life is too short to tolerate jerks.

Kat, you and I are on opposite sides of the political fence, but we knew it was best to keep politics out of conversations. I’ve always liked and respected you despite our differences. Civil disagreements are fine, and I agree jerks are not worth our time or energy. 🙏

@Carissimi See? It CAN be done!

Thanks, Kat. 🤗 @SmartKat

Some peeps just come here to argue and instigate others. They will purposely argue over fake news and God, just coz they want to irritate you. Nothing else.

I’ve blocked so many over this...coz, like you, I’ve decided I won’t tolerate their trolling even if they acted as ‘friends’.

I'm also done with people like this. There was a time when the majority of people could disagree on political matters in a civil manner, but those days are gone. Muting seems like a good option to deal with this and I hope it makes your life here more pleasant. My preferred option is to ignore those who act like jerks, but if that isn't enough, I have no problem bringing the block hammer down on them.

Political discussion in the US has devolved into a complete waste of time. No one seems to appreciate anyone's POV, other than their own. People would prefer to simply pick sides and hurl insults.

@SW-User True.
@SW-User But it is a well documented fact...girls have cooties.

What happened to people. Who taught them to hate?

The main stream media for one, which has devolved from a truthful and respectable investigative industry to your basic Enquirer type rag. Good natured stories don't get ratings or attract clicks as much as negatively biased ones.
You're missing out. It's really a lot of fun to watch people all worked up over things you care nothing about 😆

@PrincessVelvet I've always wondered who the 'lurkers' are on the politics section, given that viewing figures are so much higher than the comments or hearts.

Hi.

BTW, you're welcome.

@PrincessVelvet Glad we're keeping you entertained.

Well you kinda have to otherwise it's the social equivalent of trying to engage someone who is merely smearing their own fecal matter all over the walls.

Sometimes people even have a conversation that you were never having in the first place...but that's where trolling kind of organically presents itself...but still, mildly annoying.

💯

Yeah, I've been muting incessant political-posters too. There's rarely anything interesting said, especially when it starts out on the attack.

I can definitely understand that.

I’m generally more riled by the thread itself. Usually the post is an intentional means to bait political response.

So do you blame the people in the room that get a little charred or the author for throwing a Maltov cocktail in the room?
SW-User
Is it just me or is the tone of the last few to several posts sounding like they're basically getting bent out of shape because people aren't resorting to binary flatscan BS? Christ almighty...

I did a follow up poll kinda on this subject
Its a lawyer question we all know the answer *laughs*, funny tho

I sometimes move into politics I admit but it varies
Yeah I def did that closer to the election when it started getting outrageous on here
SW-User
I reckon I'd better find that handkerchief to stuff in my mouth.
Yeah why tolerate rudeness
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
Same here.

Whatever, you big doo doo head.
