Every loss of life is sad, but keep in mind we lost more military personnel in a few hours at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 than we have in 20 years in Afghanistan.

@beckyromero Wars aren’t measured in casualties. Soviet casualties in Afghanistan were totally sustainable, nothing close to, say, Vietnam. But there was no point so they left. That’s why we’re leaving now.

This was a disgraceful bi-partisan abandonment of our Afghan allies and the Afghan people (particularly women) who looked to us for their future well-being.

You of all should know how much I criticized Trump for negotiating with the Taliban in the first place.
