I confess that I'm confused by what's going on with the election. What is the hold up? Just the facts first, please.

You can add your opinion on the situation after those.

The fact is that Donald Trump can't handle the fact that the correct voting processes are showing he's currently not winning!
Oster1 · M
The “fact” is Biden/Harris never showed any measurable support or a viable ground game. This is just indisputable. These mail in ballots have no authenticity or regulations. This is a total farce and eventually, Trump will be re-elected. Start the hate on me for being rational.😊

Well at least we can all agree to hope for that😉

@Pikachu 👍😉

A few states are still counting. Biden is in good shape because basically all that's left at this point is mail-in ballots. But Trump could still win if everything aligns for him.
@revenant

*sigh*

Of course the "source" is a youtube video...
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@revenant That's just batched updates. Something like 140k mail in ballots from Milwaukee dropped at once. You can see that there is a bump in the red line over that same time indicator too, just a much smaller one.

This is literally you just not reading the graph correctly.
@revenant if that’s all it takes for you to believe Trump’s baseless, evidence free accusations then there’s little hope for you.
Facts: Donald Trump is holding up the count by turning to the courts and forcing them to stop. The idea is if he can discredit the mail in ballots enough then he might stand a chance at winning.

Opinion: It's a weird tactic but I th ink his real strategy is to make enough people believe Biden is illegitimately president. That way he can say "it's not my fault I lost, the vote was rigged".
@Qwerty14

That's wild.
But yeah, i can totally buy that as his motivation. His narcissism wouldn't really allow him to believe differently.
PSuss1 · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 spot on, it's not overly bright as a set of tactics (as in, regardless of the outcome it winds up Trump's base and ultimately therefore amplifies the division this administration is intent on sowing) but 100% in keeping with everything we've seen in the last 5 years
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Qwerty14 He is trying to, but nobody actually stopped counting - except for a little bit in Arizona when those retards encircled the station.
The facts: A sitting president is stamping his feet like a spoiled child because he can’t bear to lose and he doesn’t understand that what presidents of civilised countries, and adults in general, do when they lose is gracefully accept defeat.
My opinion: I think he’s a pathetic embarrassment to his country.
@TopOfTheWorld Brilliant.
deadgerbil · 22-25
Votes are still being counted, primarily mail in ballots.

Last night, trump declared a premature victory and wanted all counting to be stopped. In several key states, the mail in ballots have placed Biden in the lead and now he can get to 270.
@deadgerbil
trump declared a premature victory and wanted all counting to be stopped.
That seems like a wild thing for him to do. What's the justification for it?
deadgerbil · 22-25
@Pikachu he's justifying it based on his idea that fraud is being committed. That these ballots are fake and that there's no possible way for biden to win even though these are perfectly legal ballots.
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
Another point is the voter turnout either by postal vote or voting on the day has been massive. The USA has non-compulsory voting.
@zonavar68 True. I seem to remember reading it was the highest turn out since 1908 and your population has certainly increased since then.
DrSunnyTheSkeptic · 26-30, M
It's weird because the difference in support of the swing states is just barely a few percent so it could go either way and it's crazy.

Still counting votes
@Pikachu The problem is some states have laws or rules on the books stating they can't start the count till election day which might have been okay in the 13 colonies days but when you have 350 million people that is an issue.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Republicans have resisted early-counting initiatives, so this is by design.
@QuixoticSoul It fits with the manufactured crisis strategy.
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
it takes a certain time for all the votes to be tallied..and we are still waiting.
There is also the fact that at least in one case heavily armed Trump thugs shut down a counting facility because of safety concerns.
@Pikachu It happened in Arizona.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election-2020/maricopa-arizona-trump-supporters-guns-2020-election-b1608315.html

It was reported by the Independent in the UK but the site seems to be glitching and the article no longer loads correctly on my end at least. Could be a traffic issue.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow

That's insane. I think i'll throw this one up and see what the Trumpettes are saying about it
@Pikachu Insane is a good word for it.

Same can be said about the bizarre show of force of the NYPD earlier too.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
If Biden keeps his lead in Arizona and Nevada it's curtains for Trump. (We should have these results later today.)

If Biden wins Pennsylvania it's curtains for Trump , regardless what happens elsewhere. (Result likely by tomorrow.)
@RodionRomanovitch

Well hopefully we'll know soon then!
Gusman · 61-69, M
Neither has the magical number of 270 seats as yet.
Biden is on 264, Trump is on 214
@Gusman

Yeah i just wondered what the hold up is since it's been sitting there since yesterday.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Pikachu Postal votes will take longer to count.
@Gusman

I guess knew that. I just didn't know it would take this long.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Voting, though done in the traditional methods, is at record levels this year. Additionally, covid has caused the use of many more mail-in ballots. Tallying votes doesn't happen in the blink of an eye.
@Graylight

Yeah i just didn't think it would take this long and show no movement for so long.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Pikachu That I don't think any of us can explain.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
People in Nevada are too busy taking drugs and gambling to count the votes.
But it's the United States, of course they are going to have a hysterical fan fare about something and completely ignore facts, that is the true American way
