Whether if you agree or not black Americans are owed reparations

Black Americans who are descendants are owed reparations not just from slavery but for the following: Jim Crow, redlining, inhumane experiments for war, inhumane experiments that were used to further medical practices, forced sterilization burning down our towns, racist propaganda in school books, the CIA causing the crack epidemic, and lastly giving reparations to former slave masters.

100% agree. USA should try to learn from Germany about acknowledging cruel history and reconciling it. Start being open about the truth instead of hiding behind patriotism and white washed history books. Sugar coating and embellishing the truth does no good for anyone.

@YoungPoet345 White washing? How DARE you!
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@ProfessorPlum77 I didn’t. The decades of government leaders in various states are responsible. Try reading some of the history of how American Education was formed. It was originally formatted with a political agenda.

@YoungPoet345 LOL, ever been to Germany?
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@sunsporter1649 lol, no, but ever read a book or critically digested the news?
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@YoungPoet345 Those "government schools" are the root of all of our problems.
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@ProfessorPlum77 are you implying the public school system is not directly connected to the government? Teachers are government workers. The government makes decisions about public schools. Budgeting, policies, etc

@YoungPoet345 I see I am speaking to an experienced teacher.

@YoungPoet345 When you go to Germany, drop by Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp Memorial.

@sunsporter1649 the memorial is for the victims. To pay respect for their losses and acknowledge what occurred. They are not proud of it like the USA is proud of the confederacy. They didn’t build statues of the perpetrators
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@Barrelracer1 valid. But who could vote or which people could participate in elections when schools were first formed? Certainly not women or African Americans
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@YoungPoet345 You keep buying into that crap the democrats are pumping into your skull
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@sunsporter1649 the Democrats didn’t pump anything into me because real facts are not a hoax.
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
Not everything is a conspiracy like Trump would have one believe
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
Acknowledging the past is not political, it’s logical
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
Caring about others is not political either, it’s loving your neighbor
plankter979 · 51-55, M
@YoungPoet345 Yeah, the US has not dealt with its history or with the trauma of slavery. School kids are sold this fiction that MLK fixed everything and that we live in a post-racial fantasy land. We need to go through some stuff to truly heal. First step is to humiliate Chump and his acolytes come November.
I’m sorry but Lincoln was given slaves and he set them free. And what’s his name who sailed to the us , Columbus?? @YoungPoet345
Talk about nitpicking. @plankter979 @YoungPoet345
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@plankter979 Ever been to Pittsburgh Landing, or Malvern Hill, or Gettysburg?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Spoiledbrat Hey, that ocean goes both ways....
YoungPoet345 · 26-30, F
@Spoiledbrat don’t see the relevance. Setting them free did not make up for all the mentioned events. Lincoln is great but it doesn’t change the situation. The slaves were free, yes, but poor or broke and had very few rights. They were still being lynched and ostracized. And there were a number unhappy with the results. Which explains his assasination. Christopher Columbus carried out the beginning of a gruesome genocide of native Americans to claim the land his own for which little was repaid to them

@YoungPoet345 Jump on one of aoc's trains and go back to Europe if the USA is so disgusting to you
One person can’t control an entire population or each person. How people behave is not his responsibility. Christopher Columbus is celebrated solely for founding America. That’s it. @YoungPoet345
Lincoln was a President and couldn’t control what the south was doing. @YoungPoet345
