Has the capitalist experiment failed the people just as the communist one did?

OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
Capitalism works as long as the government is answerable to the people. The problem is people have gotten so damn lazy they gave too much power over to the government expecting government to provide security for all.
As anyone knows, power corrupts. Now we have filthy rich elites in control who have no clue what it is to actually "live" in the world today and only care about things that directly effect them.
"We The People" no longer matter to those in the ruling class.

@Julieeung The government is supposed to be answerable to the people. The people are supposed to keep the government in check. That is the actual reason for the second amendment. It was written to guarantee the people arms to be able to defend themselves against a tyrannical government.
Simple answer to your question is capitalism should control government.

@OwnerOfMany
So the gunmakers hold the exercise of power, the expression of freedom?
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@Julieeung That has been one of the largest debates in recent history. It is not so much the gun makers as the gun owners.
I am sure if I attempt to answer your question I will only start a huge argument with the snowflakes.

Here's the thing. We're a capitalist economy in much the same way we're a democracy government when, in fact we are a republic.

America is a nation of consumers, not capitalists. The capitalist run giant organizations. These are the men and women for whom most of the nation works, adding to their profits and endeavours but not their own. However, we are the consumers of the goods. Therefore, capitalism remains as elusive a pure economic design has does communism.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Julieeung Irrelevant, really. It's not a question of how readily capitalism is achieved here, it's who actually participates.
Julieeung · 26-30, F
@Graylight
But you described America as effectively an oligarchy just as Russia is!

@Julieeung 🤔🧐

Both are flawed from the root, since both consider human to be moved primarily by economy.

Capitalism ignores that not everything can be traded. Socialism ignores that people need a motivation to strive.
Ever see a makeshift raft overfilled with ppl escape a capitalist country to a socialist country?

Its raised living standards for everyone, fuelled technological advances, fuelled the sciences, its done very well. There's always going to be inequalities in every system as there's no perfect system. Its just the best we've got.

@Julieeung No one type of society will work for EVERY member.

A long time ago. Which is why most functional nations put a collar on it in a variety of ways.
