So the anti-snowflake "don't care about your feelings" no-safe-spaces conservatives just cried and whined so much that they got a movie cancelled.

Awwwwww, do you need a safe space? Did Universal Pictures trigger you with their micro-aggressions?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Conservative fragility and persistent victim mentality is nothing new. War on Christmas anyone 😂

Also,
We've become a society where offense is intolerable. Doesn't matter what your religious, political or social values are. Everyone demands total immunity to offense.

What's bizarre is that we also demand the ability to say or do anything we want without consequences. Which is some perverted distortion of the first amendment.

Combine the two, and it is the recipe that guarantees no honest candid conversations are possible.

@CopperCicada It really is a circus.
Madelenie · 26-30, F
Shame, looks like a realistic version of Hunger Games, my type of movie
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Wow. I just watched the two trailers on IMDB. I would so watch that. What was the complaint?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@sarabee1995 "They said the word deplorable which is insensitive to Trump supporters."
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@BlueMetalChick There has to be more to the complaint than that, right?
GlassDog · 41-45, M
It's a bit of a worry when "free speech" no longer includes satire.
SW-User
It’s funny how sensitive the insensitive can be sometimes.
zane333 · 36-40, M
It's not so much conservatives as it's people from older generations who know from experience that going through life in safe bubbles isn't an effective way to go through life and to learn how to work through and grow from difficult situations.

That's how people developed through life from the beginning of men and women until this latest generation... suddenly youth know best?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@zane333 So you're telling me that it's older generations who don't like "going through life in safe bubbles" that got a movie pulled because it violated their safe bubble?

So the older generations are whiny easily-offended little brats who can't take a satirical movie because it hurts their feelings?

Bullshit.
zane333 · 36-40, M
No, not that at all. I'm not talking about whatever movie that is. I'm simply talking about the history of humans up until this latest generation.e
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@zane333 It goes far, far back before the latest generation. My generation does it too, and so did my parents, and my grandparents. People older than my dad are protesting violent video games because "they're offensive and wrong." Grown ass people got a high schooler expelled for saying she thinks Israel is wrong to commit an illegal occupation. A forty nine year old man punched Ben Jacobs for asking him a tough question. Bullshit it's only the youth who want censorship.

For Christ sake, yesterday an adult man physically assaulted a thirteen year old boy for not taking his hat off during the National Anthem. He concussed him and put him in the fucking hospital.

"The Hunt"? sounds like trump's plan, uber-rich in their fortresses - sorry, gated communities - occasionally sallying forth to cull the peasantry, for the wholly admirable reason that it reduces the risk of malnourishment - and malnourished peasants aint no good at shouting lock her up and shooting up immigrants.

So build that wall! Send them home! Then what? you got no one to blame for the shit you're in but...
RosaDawn · 46-50, F
Today politic and its followers look like a bad soap tv.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
Basically shifting blame after the last two shootings I think.
SW-User
Honestly, it hust seems like it would be a shitty movie anyways. Might as well just reread The Most Dangerous Game.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@SW-User why?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
I was looking forward to the movie
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley Maybe they'll do like they did with the Interview movie with Kim Jong Un and release it on Netflix.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@BlueMetalChick I'm sure the movie will be released on Netflix and other streaming services.
SW-User
What movie?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@sunsporter1649 So describing the movie exactly how the trailer described it, and verbatim quoting the president, is a "spin job?"

Shouldn't you be busy supporting Al Qaeda right now?
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick *cough* Al-CIA-da
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@CrustyDDingus How did I never think that one up myself?
OfflineFriend · 22-25
Both extremes are bad , don't know about this incident to be honest

I can see both sides of this argument, so I have nothing particularly enlightening to say.
tenente · 100+, M
we'll always have the Jean-Claude Van Damme epic Hard Target 🤣

tenente · 100+, M
what movie?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@tenente The president called it racist for some reason and his followers went bananas and demanded the movie not be released.
tenente · 100+, M
@BlueMetalChick and for that universal pictures wrote off $18 million investment? wow
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@tenente moving towards? you want to see that society, look in your rear view mirror...
