Are you for or against the death sentence?

I'm against capital punishment because we can never be confident enough in guilt to be worth taking an innocent person's life.

I'll say against, but will also say that you cant hold up "What about Nazi's?" As an argument because that's such a stellar example of evil that hasn't been seen since.
@Straylight

I do think there are people that deserve to die for their crimes. I know that's a controversial opinion.
But i don't think getting revenge or justice on the guilty is worth the life of an innocent person.

@Pikachu I know this can be interpreted vaguely, but for a society to consider itself just, there must be a clear line between justice and revenge.

Oh, really?

Stalin
Mao
Pol Pot
Idi Amin
Slobodan Milošević

How many millions do you draw the line at?
Straylight · 31-35, F
@beckyromero I draw the line between governments and individuals. 🤷‍♀️

@Straylight

So you are OK with war crime trials and resulting death sentences? If so, fair enough.
Straylight · 31-35, F
@beckyromero If it is, as I said, a matter of upholding justice and not revenge. And we could be certain of guilt.

Take, for example, Bin Laden. When he died, they buried him at sea. Many people wanted to parade his corpse through the streets as an example. I'd say executing a mass murderer, not yo mention one who openly took responsibility for his crimes, is just. Parading his body would have been barbaric. We're better than that.

@Straylight The Tate Biana murders are an example of outright evil since the days of nazi Germany.
Straylight · 31-35, F
@NativeOregonian I havent heard of that. I'll look it up.

@Straylight Otherwise known as the Charlie Manson murders.

@NativeOregonian Oh, yeeeah. Point taken.
