It should be optional. The minute it becomes compulsory, they should strip the word “liberty” from it.

If I moved to another country, and they had a similar tradition, I might abstain from repeating the pledge but I certainly would not expect or request that they change it. ,

No just say the pledge of allegiance if you are an American.

This is bullshit. If our country's Pledge of Allegiance offends anyone, they need to leave this country, plain and simple.

What people fail to realize is that the little things we do add up to become big things. Back in school we said the pledge every morning. It instilled in me a pride for my country. That pride leads me to care about my countrymen. I'm really tired of all this anti American stuff. No wonder there is so much anger and hatred.

The Pledge should be optional. I refuse to say it until trans people are allowed back into our military.

And they've been trying to get people to believe the president's allegiance is in question.

So far as I know, the Pledge of Allegiance has always been optional to general audiences. Even back when I was in school there were those who for religious or other reasons, did not join in the pledge.

It should be optional in a free country, but as a veteran and someone who loves living here it disgusts me that any citizen would choose not to.
