That is crazy. But it’s ok if Americans are offended? 🤮

SW-User
It should be optional. The minute it becomes compulsory, they should strip the word “liberty” from it.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@SW-User I was going to say that...very true
Best answer of the string!!!

If I moved to another country, and they had a similar tradition, I might abstain from repeating the pledge but I certainly would not expect or request that they change it. ,
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Mamapolo2016 they wouldn't either, lol.
If your lucky they may send ya home.

I think it’s absolute nonsense.@Virgo79
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Mamapolo2016 agreed!
Lostpoet · M
No just say the pledge of allegiance if you are an American.

@AMERICA1ST agreed

This is bullshit. If our country's Pledge of Allegiance offends anyone, they need to leave this country, plain and simple.

SW-User
So the answer to dissent is expulsion? That sounds like freedom. 🙄@ScrewThisImDone

What people fail to realize is that the little things we do add up to become big things. Back in school we said the pledge every morning. It instilled in me a pride for my country. That pride leads me to care about my countrymen. I'm really tired of all this anti American stuff. No wonder there is so much anger and hatred.
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
Exactly.. a little behaviour mods and BAM.
Everyone hates themselves and their country.. @curiosi

So indoctrination is the answer!@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout

The Pledge should be optional. I refuse to say it until trans people are allowed back into our military.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
@ShaythePanTransMan I respect that. Trans people are no less American than anyone else.
katielass · F
And they've been trying to get people to believe the president's allegiance is in question.
Mamapolo2016 · F
So far as I know, the Pledge of Allegiance has always been optional to general audiences. Even back when I was in school there were those who for religious or other reasons, did not join in the pledge.
GoldenWorm · 51-55, M
@Mamapolo2016 there was a supreme court case to make it optional. Many places including schools still try to punish students or others for not reciting
Mamapolo2016 · F
@GoldenWorm Maybe so, but none I ever saw.
GoldenWorm · 51-55, M
Loyalty pledges are for fascists.
GoldenWorm · 51-55, M
@TheunderdogofNY you can love your country without forced public unified incantations
true!@GoldenWorm
TheThinker · 56-60, M
@GoldenWorm Absolutely.

optional.
and at least where I grew up it always was anyway.

Trnmeonbabe · 41-45, M
It should be optional in a free country, but as a veteran and someone who loves living here it disgusts me that any citizen would choose not to.
Coralmist · 41-45, F
I can see making it optional..but not banning
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
take a knee colin.. see how that goes..
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
Perhaps they would be more comfortable with The Internationale
it’s a local matter
Really getting sick of the Anti-American bullshit! This is your country, love it or get the fuck out!
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Eh. Changing it because they were scared of the commies was a pussy move. Making children repeat it daily was an embarrassing level of indoctrination.
Kinda tainted now imo

@sunsporter1649 This level of stupid has got to be chemically enhanced somehow smh
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul I totally agree, teaching kids to Hate America First is asinine
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@sunsporter1649 You're painfully dumb.
Zonuss · 46-50, M
It doesn't need to be banned. You can sit down and not pledge. No problems because you have that right.
