When do we elect our electoral voters?

I don't get it...

If our electoral voters vote for the president and the state elects the electoral voters, why should I even vote? I don't ever recall voting for the electors in California. I don't even know who they are!? So, why should I even vote?

Well...they are appointed by the party, and when the popular vote comes in, the winning council of electoral voters are permitted to cast their electoral ballots. At least in many states. They don't technically have to vote that way though, but they usually do.

California has 55 electoral voters. When then do they vote? After all Californians have voted? They cast they vote at 11pm or later after their states popular vote has completed voting?

The electoral college doesn't have to vote based on the popular vote in each state. They can if they choose to, but they can also ignore the popular choice, and vote for the other person.

I'd suggest taking a second to look that one up on your own.

Good stuff to learn about. It's important to know why your vote counts.

the comments below are correct. I'll add that each state has different laws, so there are small differences among them.
