WHY do people here have to fight over politics and be so hateful towards each other?!

Please don't let bad behavior drive you away. It's possible to talk, and even fight a bit over politics without getting personal, much less mean and rude.

At least it is, until all the people who like to do that leave.

Btw, I know blocking is a way some people deal with that, and not just with politics, but it's not the only way, or necessarily the best.

Sometimes, for example, logging off and taking a break but coming back, is, IMO better, because you might have gotten people at a bad moment, when they needed a fight, and you were just an available victim instead of a discussion partner.

I doubt anyone has ever changed their mind on politics over an internet exchange. Such a waste of time.

Sadly love and compassion have become a politically leveraged commodity.

If you pick an injustice in the world it will generally trigger one of three responses. Sometimes all together:

1. If it's an injustice overseas, somebody will respond that you are disloyal as there are people suffering similarly here-- so why do you hate your own people?

2. If it's an injustice here, somebody will respond that the same injustice existed under administrations X, Y and Z-- so why are you a political hater?

3. If it's an injustice here, somebody will respond that some other group of people suffers similarly-- so why are you a bigot and a hypocrite?

It honestly blows my mind how much hate some people here exhibit towards the other side.

Just sharing my own experience, some of the conservatives on this site just spew hatred and slander at the slightest hint of a liberl. They seem genuinely to believe that liberals hate them and america and want it to be overrun by this or that perceived threat.

I don't know why people find it so difficult to understand that the other side are just people too.

It's better to keep an open mind than to tear somebody else down. People get too harsh and it accomplishes nothing.

Some people can't handle that other people think differently. Us verses them mentality.

Shows how people really are in a way. Don't take it too seriously.
