Is a wall a good solution to illegal immigration or at the very least a good start to trying to solve the problem why or why not?

It's a start ,people dont realize it's for people's safety too

Since additional barriers are going up right now obviously more and better than presently exist is necessary. However not along the whole border. Part of an overall plan making maximum use of technology.

They’ve actually never STOPPED being erected. @MistyCee
@jackjjackson And the climate is still changing, mass shootings are still happening, etc. What's your point?

Additional barriers as necessary and straightening existing barriers as necessary. . However not along the whole border. Part of an overall plan making maximum use of technology.@MistyCee

No. It’s expensive, surmountable, only affects minority of our illegal immigration, and was (unsuccessfully) sold on pure xenophobia.

It also doesn’t affect the demand side of the equation, which is what really matters in the long run.

A wall is just one step in fixing our immigration problems. We should end chain migration, go after those that overstay their vistas.

Would you rather trespassers be shot
solution is : change leader

I think a wall helps. My country is surrounded by ocean so you can't just sneak in over a fence lol. Which means we're lucky. If we had other countries surrounding us I wouldn't mind a wall. It pretty much just a fence for your country 😂

It will be a complete waste of money, the berlin wall didn't stop people and that had watch towers machine guns and mine fields. A wall won't do that much, and even if it would 100% stop people, they would simply use a boat instead and go around it or hide in trucks that cross the border. How do you think the UK gets immigrants.

@JohnTaylor No you can look at the threat that is actually posed by illegal immigration and target those problems and you can intensify more surveilance. But it would be best to bring more prosperity to Mexico to lower the pressure of people wanting to flee to another country.
JohnTaylor · 22-25, M
Ok the first part of your argument I have no problem with and I absolutely agree but I don’t see how it’s America’s job to ensure Mexico isn’t a shithole so their people won’t want to leave it @dondon

@JohnTaylor It's not their job, but it is the reality. A huge gap between rich and poor (between or within) countries makes it less safe.
As long as their are desperate poor people wanting a better life you will either need super thight security or to give them the opportunity to have a decent living somewhere else.

It is a start. Congress didn’t allocate $1.375 billion dollars because they didn’t think it would have some impact. However, their reasoning was apparently that a lot of the funds that were requested for a wall would be better applied elsewhere....and the President signed off on the agreement.
Illegal immigration is obviously a problem....but is it a National Emergency to have a large amount of wall built quickly?
This is a problem that will never be solved, but the best way to combat it is to have strong security at ports of entry....as this is where most of the drugs (which are an even bigger problem) enter the country.

A lot of the 'Neighbours From Hell' TV shows are based on border disputes. The only people who benefit are those who make the TV shows.

I think the idea of a wall is a bit dramatic, however I completely understand the reason for it.
Very good start. It won't be 100% effective, but much better than letting everyone in- like the Dems want!!
It's not a solution to that problem, IMO.

Its just another scam
