Is a wall a good solution to illegal immigration or at the very least a good start to trying to solve the problem why or why not?

It will be a complete waste of money, the berlin wall didn't stop people and that had watch towers machine guns and mine fields. A wall won't do that much, and even if it would 100% stop people, they would simply use a boat instead and go around it or hide in trucks that cross the border. How do you think the UK gets immigrants.

@JohnTaylor It stoped a great number of people, but not all of them. And if your primary concern is safety it would be those who would get through.

@JohnTaylor No you can look at the threat that is actually posed by illegal immigration and target those problems and you can intensify more surveilance. But it would be best to bring more prosperity to Mexico to lower the pressure of people wanting to flee to another country.

Ok the first part of your argument I have no problem with and I absolutely agree but I don’t see how it’s America’s job to ensure Mexico isn’t a shithole so their people won’t want to leave it @dondon

@JohnTaylor It's not their job, but it is the reality. A huge gap between rich and poor (between or within) countries makes it less safe.
As long as their are desperate poor people wanting a better life you will either need super thight security or to give them the opportunity to have a decent living somewhere else.
