Is a wall a good solution to illegal immigration or at the very least a good start to trying to solve the problem why or why not?

No. It’s expensive, surmountable, only affects minority of our illegal immigration, and was (unsuccessfully) sold on pure xenophobia.

It also doesn’t affect the demand side of the equation, which is what really matters in the long run.
