Why do some people believe Socialism is the way forward when it has never worked?

PikachuTrainer, because they want free things at the expense of others who earned it through hard work.

“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.” - Winston Churchill

Socialism is basically legalized envy of people who have money. The stealing of other people's hard-earned money by people who feel entitled to it. They're trying to make everyone equal alright - by bringing other people down to their level through stealing so that all are the same.

There's no free lunch, you have to work to make a living. Taking money from other's without their permission is called theft. Not working and expecting money to be given for free takes away people's incentive to work in the first place. Eventually they just stop work altogether because why bother to work if you can just sit on your behind and get free money?

Where's the line for that program so I can stand in it to get free shit the rest of my life? The downside is it's at the expense and burden of other people who actually earned it - but I won't care because the government is doing the stealing, not me - I'm busy getting mine!

Socialist Cow Program - The government stole your property. Tough.

Liberal Cow Program - The government made you feel guilty first then you handed over your property willingly.

Communist Cow Program - The government stole all of your property and now you're poor and have nothing. You'll be lucky to ever have a decent life again.

Conservative Cow Program - In a country where Liberty and Freedom are valued, people can prosper through hard work and actually defend themselves from their abusive government.

You're not supposed to be afraid of the government, the government is supposed to be afraid of you. Think about it.

Every one is happy so that is not true at all. Only in the USA do people love money more than people. Greed is not a good value! @DudeistPriest
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@DudeistPriest That’s the wealthy talkin. I imagine that you’re wearing a $50K ostrich coat. But what if, humor me for just a moment, what if you lost your wealth, and as an elderly person, heard those words that you just spewed?
Carazaa · F
Yes, the European countries are based on Christianity and love. That's why they are on the list of top happiest in the world. They don't have to resort to drugs if they lose their eyesight and can't drive, mass transit is great in Europe, or get fired which is illegal in most European countries, or have a disease and can't afford the deductible for healthcare so they die, healthcare is free I scandinavia. Mortality is so high in USA its like an unindustrial country compared to Europe where they live longer, or have to mortgage their house if they get sick, or have such high student loans they can't eat, colleges are free in Scandinavia. @SimplyTracie
@Carazaa Sorry, I don't argue with liars who claim they're Christians.
Carazaa · F
I think that CBN has brain washed people into believing that being fascist is Godly. Jesus says "Love one another" "Feed the hungry" If anyone asks of you, give" "Love your enemies, and those who despitefully use you" That is NOT what some Christians are doing right now. They are NOT in their Bibles and has lost their witness. Jesus says Many will say "I witnessed in your name, and he will say "I never knew you".

Please do not fall away from God. Don't listen to politicians, and preachers, only Jesus who tells us to love God and people!
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@Carazaa as a European you sound like someone who has never actually been to Europe.

@DudeistPriest Yay!!! Hurray!!! Love the Winston Churchill quote.

I grew up in Scandinavia. My parents are there now.@PikachuTrainer
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@Carazaa And my I grew up on Luna and my parents are currently living on Mars.
@PikachuTrainer She's a "Christian" lady from California who's busy creating a false narrative.
PikachuTrainer · 26-30, M
@DudeistPriest I already guessed that some time ago. My guess is she has never even set foot in Scandinavia, let alone Europe.

I grew up in Sweden, my parents are still there.
@SimplyTracie Let’s get something straight between us. No. I made $31K last year and I worked my ass off to earn it. How much did you make? Have you ever heard of the concept of work? Do you work? Does it bother you that one must get up in the morning and go to work for a living? Or is work an alien concept for you?

Hard work and making wise decisions with your hard earned money pay off. Creditors, lenders and mortgagers take notice and beat a path to your door. I earned a credit rating of 807 (Experian) making sure that even though I don’t make much money, I paid my debts to everyone I owed by budgeting. It’s called honesty. How’s your credit rating?

I would have expected an apparently intelligent person like you to stay on topic, but instead your first instinct was to divert away from the subject. Considering you came to a social website to learn about political systems says a lot about you. This is something you should have learned in Government class in high school or college, not at a social website.
I see your honest approach here but in reality, social websites ooze with ambiguous rumor, gossip, innuendo, hearsay and anecdotes. None of which are facts, which seems like something you’re not interested in learning. It seems you’re more interested in throwing stones from a glass house.

Advice is to remove those rose-tinted glasses and take a red pill. The medicine is bitter at first but it’s actually good for you. Also, developing a good Work ethic will help you in the long run to stay Strong and Independent instead of being a Dependopotamus and, like a parasite, become a burden on the system and those around you - don't be that girl. Otherwise, Europe is waiting for you.

PS - This may be a bit rough around the edges for you, but you'll find that once you search for the truth you'll instinctively go where that takes you - not where emotionalism takes you. Really, you must control your emotions, or they'll be your undoing.
@PikachuTrainer I like that one! And no, she didn't grow up anywhere, she hasn't grown up at all. How do I know? She still believes in gumdrops, rainbows and unicorns pooping multi-colored ice cream who could do no wrong.

@DudeistPriest Ahhh you attack me like so many others without knowing me.

Yes I work part time as a server at a small restaurant. And I attend a local university.

I am lucky that my dad has taught me lots about finances. I got my first credit card afti started my first job at Subway. My dad told me to get a loan too (which I didn’t even need).

I know the truth when I see it. Even here on SW. You can too if you want too.

Anything else?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@DudeistPriest What a bizarre attack, on so many levels. You have issues, dude.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@DudeistPriest How do you feel about those who for one reason or another cannot work, Such as the mentally or physically disabled?

And what is so wrong with the way we do things in Europe? 🤔
@SimplyTracie
"Ahhh you attack me like so many others without knowing me." You attacked me first. It's called defending yourself. What's good for the goose...

"Yes I work part time as a server at a small restaurant. And I attend a local university." I work in IT sharing a wall with Subway at a state university myself. We smell the bread each morning. We also see hoards of students woefully unprepared for life that are coddled beyond belief. The university is doing them no favors in, and corporations I've worked in complain constantly about how, students are not prepared for work in even the most basic of ways.

Good that you work, you see the value in working right? We have an intern that is constantly announcing out loud in the computer lab how she wants to take the boss's job while doing only the most basic amount of work to show for it. A reputation for poor work ethic follows you from job to job in the form of work record and references. The manager at the next job already knows you're not a hard worker.

"I am lucky that my dad has taught me lots about finances. I got my first credit card afti started my first job at Subway. My dad told me to get a loan too (which I didn’t even need)." He cares for you, that's why he told you to get a loan because that's how credit is built - through creditors seeing your trustworthiness. Smart father.

You know the truth? The truth is you didn't look up what Socialism is earlier, or now, before expounding your views instead of gracing us with your wealth of knowledge.

Really, you must control your emotions that you allow to drive you, they were your undoing. See you next Tuesday.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@DudeistPriest Okay Thank you for the clarification.

Now, your turn to explain what the heck is Socialism. I’ve heard many definitions. There seems to be varying degrees but you tell me the whole truth about Socialism.

Everyone is tuned in. Go!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SimplyTracie no one can define it. No one really wants to eliminate government involvement totally. Who would protect us against airplane collisions, dangerous drugs and food...do I really Have to go on? If I were a multi-million dollar a year health insurance executive, is be against socialized, aka single payer, medicine; if I were an orderly who has been.paid less than coolie wages, I'd like to see more more funds for care and support.
@QuixoticSoul "What a bizarre attack, on so many levels. You have issues, dude."

It's called defending yourself. Do you know how to defend yourself? Or do you just bark in the dark?

White-knighting didn't get you any, did it? I don't play that game.

I give everyone one chance to be nice, but I see you've taken the low road and decided to accuse me of having issues.

Buddy, you got a problem?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@DudeistPriest There is defending yourself, and there is having a massive spergout. Someday, you’ll learn the difference.
@Quizzical "How do you feel about those who for one reason or another cannot work, Such as the mentally or physically disabled?" Thank you for your question. It's more useful to those with these needs for those in authority to proceed from a position of thinking first.

We have what's called SSI (Supplemental Security Income) designed for those who legitimately require help as they age, are blind or disabled or who have little or no income; and provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter. The 'dole' so to speak.

However, dole bludgers are a serious decades-old matter here and guess who has to pay for that? Yes, we the taxpayer. How do we know who is really a dole bludger, you may ask? Many states in the union have instituted work-for-welfare programs where they must work before receiving these benefits. This does two things: 1) it prepares them for worklife with skills as they may actually be hired permanently, and 2) weed out those who don't really want to work, but just collect free benefits. Sadly, a large amount of people fall under the second condition and didn't really have a desire to work nor better themselves. This does save the state and, by extension, the taxpayer at large copious amounts of money, resources and time.

Every person I have ever met who had SSI, needed it. I have two friends who need SSI and I love them very much as brothers. One of them had post traumatic stress syndrome from witnessing his friend get stabbed in the heart at a party and die right in front of him. He never recovered from that experience and years later was found dead in bed one morning from heart problems by his mother. I miss him a lot. My other friend has serious adaptation problems and never adapted to society properly so we watch out for him because no one else will.

I have no question with helping those who can't help themselves. But no one ever asks about that. What they assume is why we "hate" these people. I don't. They go straight for the accusations without asking, as you did. So thank you for asking instead of hurling insults. People who throw insults first without thinking should expect insults thrown back at them.

I don't believe I mentioned there's something "wrong with the way" things are in Europe. However, by the same token, I must ask - and what's wrong with the way we do things here in America?

Thank you for your query.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@DudeistPriest Yes. The government IS afraid of YOU, the people. Which is why they want you divided, so you dont decide that all the money they are keeping for themselves would be better spent on YOU. Look at the laws to protect the politicians, the judges, the police from the people they are supposed to serve. Not just those who make political contributions to get in the express queue for service. You gotta be rich to live in the land of the free these days.
@QuixoticSoul First, you smell of cowardice. I called you out. You blinked.

Second, did you get any benefit from defending someone who was damseling? Did it raise your self-esteem? Did you feel good about yourself? Think you're gonna get some? You don't do her any favors kissing her behind, besides she's probably laughing at you right now.

Third, stop the pretense, stop fooling yourself, toughen yourself up as a Man. While you're at it join the conservative movement. Otherwise you fall in danger of becoming...

A “useful idiot” - a term used by Vladimir Lenin towards communist sympathizers in the West (America). While Lenin and the Soviets held them in utter contempt they also viewed them as tools for dispensing communist propaganda to other countries, thus infecting foreign cultures with their totalitarian tripe. After their mission was complete, they were no longer “useful.”
