Was Hitler a socialist?

Right wing youtube thinks so. A highly educated and informed German thinks its ridiculous.

Socialism is based on theories, Fascism is based on violence and hate.

You think Fashism didn't have theories? And even if we agree on the fact that they had theories... why would all of them be based on "violence" and "hate"? Not a lot of political movements have theories that are based on violent and hate and do good in elections... ussually they have a lot more going on too. 😅

And Socialists were pretty happy with Marx, if I recall correctly they saw Marx as the guy that gave "Socialism" a "scientific" background. Which it didn't really have before Marx. Depending on what "Socialist" you read, most of them came to the conclussion that at a certain moment of time a "revolution" had to break out that overtrew the old system and went to a new. These "revolutions" aren't really peacefull. Marx actively stood with armed revolt and a lot of leftist thinkers wrote books pondering on how to use violence. It's inherit to a lot of socialist thinkers. That it lead to violence isn't just a coincedence it's part of the program.

Strange how he went to war with the USSR then. He was a fascist. I hate people trying to rewrite history to fit their biases.

The Nazi Party gave themselves the name "socialist" to make themselves more palatable to German voters (before their coup of the government), as there were numerous socialist parties at the time commanding a significant portion of the vote. Their policies, however, were far from anything resembling socialist theory. In short, it was just another of their many forms of propaganda.

The German economy under the Nazis was a combination of deficit spending and a kind of party directed crony quasi capitalism. To call it socialism is to affix a label that doesn’t really explain much. Rather, the purpose of such a label is to slander liberalism in the West.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SW-User Exactly.

@SW-User Perfectly stated.

Yes the misappropriation and re-defining of words to mean something completely different is a horrible epidemic in right-wing America these days. Yet no-one makes the connection between right-wing Germany of the 30's and right-wing America today.

I suppose it's a 'good' thing that vermin like De Souza and Crowder and co. are so keen to get their views heard, i mean at least they make themselves known through their desperate need to vlog/blog/flog their b/s on all platforms of social media. And aren't shy about appearing publicly, so at least you know who these screwed up thinkers and potential agitators are.
Far worse when it appears as an anonymous post on any given social-media site for example.

People have to challenge them. We ALL have to challenge them !
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Picklebobble2 Absolutely. Good post and I agree with every word.
National Socialism is a different ideology. As evidenced by the number of leftist socialists Hitler had executed or sent to concentration camps along with Communists.
plinkplonk · F
@bijouxbroussard It truly boggles my mind. Have we, as a society, forgotten the lessons that history has taught us?? I learned this in high school.
bookerdana · M
Where there is no wisdom the people perish-proverbs

The Nazi Party emerged from the German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post-World War I Germany. The party was created as a means to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism.-Wikipedia

So Crowder based his whole argument on an erroneous quote supposedly made by Hitler?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@plinkplonk I think he grew up in Canada but his fans are mostly American. If Ted Cruz had a dumb, frat boy nephew then it would be crowder.
plinkplonk · F
@Burnley123 He's just another blow hard spitting into the wind 🙄
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@plinkplonk Yeah but it saddens me that crowder and his ilk have so many followers
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Hitler was a fascist, not a socialist. The Nazi's were based off of Italy's fascists which rose as a reaction to the left (in Italy.)

Anyways:

https://www.indy100.com/article/nazi-socialist-right-wing-white-supremacists-history-twitter-mikestuchbery-7900001

Couple of good points:
3. The Germans used socialist economic policies, before retreating to a corporate cartel base. Companies like Krupp made $$$.

Otherwise, they were fascist - 1. Saw themselves as racially/nationally superior, 2. Wanted rearmament & expansion, 3. Consolidated capital.
nazi party was the national socialist party was it not?..
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 pfff. I'm not responding again until you have something of substance to say. Watch the vid.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
nah, I think I'll just mute/block you instead... from the looks of things, you're about as wacko as all the other weirdos on SW...🤔
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 Snowflake
redredred · M
Umm, the National Socialists (Nazis) were, as their name indicates, socialists. The Third Reich had universal health care, universal old age pensions, free college education, mandatory full employment, universal gun control, all significant corporations took direction from the government regarding prices, employment and production.

If thats not socialism, what is?
redredred · M
Like almost all socialists, the nazis were evil, obviously. to them universal didnt mean worldwide; it was just for aryans. Its inherent in their name, the NATIONAL socialists. Are you having trouble with this?@Really
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@redredred Personally, I prefer to know someone's argument before I comment. The video deals with every single point you raise.
redredred · M
Its a well documented calumny by Herbert Marcuse who tried to distance the third reich from its obvious socialist nature so as to rehabilitate socialism in the post war years. Hitler and Mussolini died thinking of themselves as socialists. Any case made to the contrary is simply excuse making about as credible as the flat-earthers.@Burnley123

Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP), aka Nazi Party, aka National Socialist German Workers' Party
...A highly educated and informed German thinks its ridiculous.
Sounds to me like this particular German should get a refund for wherever he went to college...
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Burnley123 So in other words, you're saying that a socialist party, with socialist leaders, and socialist ideologies... isn't really socialist.

and you're Republican? and? so? therefore?

Are you implying that because you believe the meanings of words aren't definitive, that you're not really a Republican?

Better yet, what is the purpose of this post?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@wildbill83 Im British and against my monarchy. I'm saying people mislabel themselves for obvious reasons.

Again, please watch the video and engage with the substance of the argument, not the positions you are (badly) attempting to put on me.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Burnley123 I skimmed though it enough to realize that watching the whole thing would be about as useful as watching a Michael Moore "documentary"....🙄

@Burnley123 WhOTz u squeakinGz BouTz?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
He said he was and the Nazis have the title socialist in their name. They both ran Germany like socialists do everywhere so yes Hitler was a socialist.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Really Or telling the truth. Socialism is opposed to the truth. For a socialist it is the equivalent of sunshine to a vampire.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 My ideal solution something which hasn't happened yet. My best existing role models are Nordic.

Hitler was a socialist as much as you are a hippy.
Really · 80-89, M
@hippyjoe1955 Oh I didn't know that. Wikipedia? Anyway thanks for the pearls of wisdom.

Oh shit, I've let myself get trapped into responding in kind.

Bailing.
Riverman · 56-60, M
I don't know about that. It is certain though that any "ism" that does not recognize the "unalienable rights" of its citizens ends up being totalitarian.
I didn't couldn't get through that one.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MistyCee Three arrows is very dry but his analysis is really good. He's exactly what you would expect from a smart but boring German.
@Burnley123 I just couldn't get past the moron at the beginning.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MistyCee lmfao. He is an idiot but peopke like him.
