Let us dispense with political taxonomy (left and right) for this subject.....

Surely we can all agree that this economic system is broken for the majority of people? In a recent Oxfam report, 26 people own as much wealth as 50% of the global population.

The economic model of deregulated, free-market capitalism doesn't work......it's time for more equitable (wealth and environment) system, don't you think?

I don't know, there is something to be said about hard work and achievement versus being a lazy a$$.

Entitlement without being vested is a dangerous road IMO.

@Keeper and those roads, clean water (not so clean now, another damnation of this system), ability to.deal with disasters (mainly caused by this system, ecologically) were made possible by public money not by the free market.

Also, this system is trying and succeeding in rolling back all those societal safety nets.

This system also creates monopolies so you could say that you have a.choice but that choice is so limited its almost like you have no choice. Especially when you don't have much/zero spare capital.

The economics, even at a cursory glance, literally makes no sense.

@gol979 I think we both have valid points, it's nice to have an informed rational discussion on here, doesn't happens too often.

Speaking of working to pay the bills...lol Gotta run.

@Keeper glad you can pay your bills lol 馃憤

It seems we're returning to the days of aristocrats & peasants. 馃槖

Governments need to confront employers and up wages.
Something they've avoided for more than ten years now.

Boom and bust cycles of economics repeatedly over the last forty years show that something doesn't work properly.
Whether that's down entirely to government economic policy or employers pleading 'poverty' is probably 50/50.
But something needs to change.
Unfortunately, the wealthy are currently (greatly) influencing politicians and are passing laws to protect their agenda.
gol97941-45, M
@toodlepip it is unfortunate but it can change......no doubt it will be a struggle but what the f*** do we have left?
@gol979 We need to get the money out of politics but in order to that we need laws passed > by the individuals who are being bought.

It's frustrating.
PlatoscaveF
@toodlepip they have to be changed from within, hahahahahah!!

hey can anyone imagine Baron going to his daddy at age 14 and saying he is gay and wants to be a dancer and he wants a nicer world for one and all?

and it gets caught on video and goes viral?

The economy would be more vibrant, that's for sure.

This is true good point. Always pray for our country.
MethDozerM
It is inevitable in any system. That's why a social douching is needed every so often and why civilization is a house of cards with no real foundation. It will always crumble under its own weight in time.
gol97941-45, M
@MethDozer I was addressing the presumption that "we fixed it", I'm agreeing with you.......in an illegible way, apologies 馃槀
MethDozerM
@gol979 My bad, it sounded accusatory .lol
gol97941-45, M
@MethDozer that's my usual tone but new year, new me lol
