As a retired military soldier ( 27 years of service and 10 major surgeries because of it ) that had to go and sit around the world including the middle east where we are hated because we try to install governments friendly to our Government. It just has not worked. I backed fighting ISIS in there back yard 100%, But there has to be a point where the people of the lands we are stationed in stand up and fight for themselves!
In the initial removal of the Talban in Afghanistan we did it with a few groups of special forces very successfully! The Afghan leaders and citizens welcomed and loved us, and warned us not to be become the invader and to maintain our liberator assistor role! Then We invaded the country because of these Washington D.C. advisors said we need to install an American friendly government. That is when we became the invaders we were warned not to become, and became hated further in the middle east and ruined our Afghanistan friendly assistor role.
Syria was a knee jerk reaction to the world's as well as the UN's so what are you going to say and do about this type situation. If Russia did not stand behind the Syrian dictator we would of invaded the country too, and gotten bogged down for countless years trying to install an a pro American Government there too. We are involved militarily in several small African countries now too trying the same dang thing.
When is there enough American blood and money spent to realize we can not make the world like us by force? !!! They have to stand up and fight for what they want their countries to be as it's own citizens; then we cantry and make friends from that point forward. If they want to fight train and arm them that is all~!
