Recently some politicians have begun to talk about morality on at least two different issues. Do you think it is believable, in any way, for a Washington politician to sling the concept of "morality" around?

The party that is not in power or is losing power suddenly finds two things: its “morality” and its desire for fiscal responsibility.

For years I've thought distrusted politicians talking about morality, and I'm still really bothered by the concept of trying to legislate morality.

But of late, I've come to realize that what bothered me most was mostly pushing particular non universal "moral" concepts on others, like marital fidelity, religious beliefs, etc.

More fundamental moral issues, like respect for other points of view and honesty now seem really important these days, and I actually would like to see very basic moral and ethical issues raised forcefully.

The idea that all policitians, and for that matter, all people lie, is probably valid, but when its expressed to defend lies, I think the hypocrisy issue pales in comparison to the damage done by encouraging people to shrug off bad acts.

It shouldn’t be brought up at all because you can use the word evil to describe the opposite party when they just have a different thought process then you. What needs to be used is rationality.

Maybe our focus should be on their actual moral behaviors

It is more than a little amusing to hear dumtards blather on about morals, isn't it. lol
I don't know about Washington, but I think you might be speaking too generally. Maybe there are more specific morality topics you have in mind

@Daddy91 Lots of politicians, especially senators and the President at times, promote theft, murder and genocide. There's a movie based on a true story, with Tom Hanks, called Charlie Wilsons war...shows you the basic crap that goes on every day in Washington.

I don’t trust movies I’ll watch a documentary from a solid source and check It myself but also books from people who were there. War is a different matter entirely anyways than day to day politics

@Daddy91 It wasn't a war. That's just the title of the movie.
