Which brand of libertarianism is more intellectually honest: left libertarianism or right libertarianism?

Lets eliminate government oppression but not economic oppression because economic oppression is cool!- Right wing liberterians

@33person On minimum wage, I'm opposed to any minimum wage set by the federal government, in the US at least. On a state level, I'm OK with people trying to create one because of the 10th Amendment, although I'd argue against it.

From everything I've seen, minimum wages cause more problems than they solve, and it's another government erosion of freedom and individuals' right to choose in the market place.

@33person Yeah, sorry, saw the minimum wage part late, but answered it above.

I'll just add that I don't believe government should be setting or defining purchasing power in any sense. It can't even do that now when we do have a minimum wage and the government is controlling, or trying to control, inflation.

Left-libertarianism because recognises that power comes from capital as well as from the state.

I wouldn't describe any wing of libertarianism as intellectually dishonest. Except the "libertarian socialists." They're just flat out lying to themselves.

Also note that I'm talking about libertarianism with a lower case L, not the political party.

@33person They're imagining a world where socialism doesn't require an authoritarian government behind it, mainly because they're confusing (intentionally, I think) socialism and anarcho-communism. That's a simplification, but an accurate one.

@Sicarium Are anarcho-communists, then, lying to themselves, or only libertarian socialists?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@33person No, I wouldn't say anarcho-communists are lying to themselves. I personally think they're delusional, or at least highly overly-idealistic. But they fully believe what they say.

Right-wing, but I see none of them fits human nature. The way humans are, authoritarism is a must.

I think they are both intellectually honest to a reasonable degree of thought. I would say right intellectualism falls into the trap of monopolistic market force. Private property and finite resources makes it possible to own most of resource X. And when that happens you have control over an entire vertical supply chain unless someone figures out a way to replace or create X in a lab. I myself identify with the libertarian left, as I believe private property and wage labor to maintain it is in itself a system of bondage. But that doesn't mean I think the right is intellectually dishonest. I just disagree with them there.

Kind of naïve either way.
