@quietlitany YOU ARE A NEANDERTHAL PIG...STFU...hey...you got NO support here..not from men or women...tell you anything??? I think you are just a dimwitted troll.
@quietlitany I don't know how I could make it any clearer for you. Rutterman is correct that it was ended in the 70s. It was re-introduced, yes. But that doesn't mean it wasn't ended for a number of years.
Of course they should, they are part of society and it’s a cohesive whole, just because they don’t fight on the frontlines as men do, they are still 50% of the work force.
@CovertStarGazer Personally, I think women should either be required to sign up for the draft as men do or the draft gets completely removed. The odds of the latter happening is slim to none as removing law is tedious....making law however...
As several people have accurately pointed out, we haven't had an active draft since 1973, although men are required to register for Selective Service on their 18th birthdays. Our military is all volunteer and has many capable women serving with distinction. What does a registration for a draft that hasn't existed in 44 years have to do with a citizen's right to vote? Of course women should vote.
Geez, you call me and we talk about voting and now this? Did you not like my views? 😋 Just kidding....
Anyways.....yes, we should still be able to vote. But I am one who also believes in equal rights too, so we should also have to sign up for the draft. I honestly don't think it's fair that men, if there were to be a draft, get forced to lay down their lives while us women sit back and watch.....🙈
Males are required to register for the draft although the drat has been suspended. I think females should be required to serve in some way but I don't think you really want them beside you in combat. I mean the idea is to come home in one piece.
@katielass They can have their own units or serve in other functions. The draft is basically for cannon fodder, so I think they should have their own combat units.
Really no one ought to have to sign up for the draft. Though I don't necessarily oppose some kind of universal service and training system. We don't NEED it, but it might still be a good idea.
I never thought about it. I thought about joining the military. About a month after that thought crossed my mind I found out I was pregnant. There went that idea.
@lorne13 The US requires males to sign up for the military draft at 18. There is no active draft, but you still have to sign up for it in the event it is reactivated. Females aren't required to.
@SW-User It's required at 18 and there is a cut off age due to being older, tax paying, and supporting a family. It's justified by the large amount of younger blood. There is a sign up age limit too that needs a waiver to exceed in the event of volunteer service.
