Poem Title: If
If I decide to sleep a little late today
Would you notice the dark circles under my eyes?
If I decide not to brush my hair today
Would you notice my hair’s unruliness and flyaways?
If I decide, despite my cheerfulness, to be quiet today
Would you feel the emptiness in the room because of my absence?
If I decide to put lots of dots on my usual okays…
Would you notice my racing thoughts and mindless chaos?
If I decide not to take your hand on our late-night walks
Would you notice I’m already slipping away?
If I decide not to respond to your kisses today
Would you notice my love diminishing, day by day?
And if one day I stop asking these questions—
Would you notice then, or would it still feel the same?
____________Would you notice the dark circles under my eyes?
Got sloppy with the drawing.
