Words
Words are inside us all.
Waiting for that rhyming call.
Open heart and write away.
Give them freedom to have a say.
Then the words will flow just right.
To make someone else feel bright.

I enjoy a certain form that often features people from Nantucket.

I do love poetry. I did write a few, mostly for my own satisfaction. Not a pro or something. Just love the poetic expression of thoughts and wisdom.
i used to be inclined to write poetry
the urge seemed irresistible, but years of therapy under the supervision of experienced psychiatrists worked a miracle and now i am free of this addiction

I get that. The act of sharing one's words, to touch another is very religious. ✍️❤️🤗

I write poetry sometimes and have been for years. At one time it was very therapeutic for me. I would even go to poetry slams
and open mic nights and read them in public . Some of it is in my posts if you care to read any of it.

It's like I said I don't write to woo but don't mind that it has that consequence.

I write because it just spills over the edge and flows out of me. I can't help it.

I'm afraid of overwhelming them.....

Prose... I do both. Yet not both all the time.
Search the prose group or my writings collection.
https://similarworlds.com/poetry/prose
The group is mostly my posts!
It gets lonely in there! 🤷🏻♂️
The other has all my writing stuff:

I used to write poetry quite often. It was one of my hobbies. However I've encountered a type of writer's block that's lasted for almost ten years.

My favourite poet is Philip Larkin but since the controversy of book banning (I mean REALLY ... in a so-called free country???) I've started reading and enjoying Amanda Gorman

I go through phases where I like reading poetry. My favourites have always been: Banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson.
