Not sure how to handle this

So Joel came home for cub Scouts very upset. The said they we're sitting in a group and talking about what makes each kid their different. The Den leader asked our youngest what made him and his brother different.

Our boy said he is taller than me.

Another child calls out and he has down syndrome and he's retarted and walks funny

The other kids laughed and the Den mother ok kids let's not make him feel bad because he's different. He was born this way and God loves him

Joel was so outraged he got both the boys and left.

I have never seen him so upset or mad. Our oldest boy is so embarrassed and went to his room. And tiny tornado is crying.

Joel wants to go back there and say something but I don't think we should handle that way.

I don't know how to fix this

Den Mothers are human, and make horrible mistakes, it's true. But the way to handle is by contacting the Boy Scouts Council and asking THEM to contact the Den Mother.

My entire troop of Girl Scouts was kicked out of the girl scouts because the leaders did something that some of the girls perceived as wrong. One of the girls father was a lawyer, and he drew up a petition, and there was a LOT of pressure to sign it, BY the daughter and her friends.

The upshot was, we were ALL kicked out of the Girl Scouts by the Girl Scout Council for un-Girl Scoutly behavior. Except for the leaders two daughters.

One thing we have to realize, as human beings, is that not ALL human beings are evolved, and definitely not ALL human being are sensitive to the feelings of children.

@4meAndyou this is what we have decided to do. And we're going to have my buddy contact them for us. We don't want to cause huge problems but clearly this person needs better training or something.

@Cigarguy YES!!! And find out who it is who wants to meet with Joel tonight...if it's the Den Mother, don't let him go.
