@HumanEarth I've hunted deer and antelope fairly well with a fifty cal. in line black powder I have. Open sight. It's good practice for a hunter to keep the ability to get within 100 yds. of the animal .
@HumanEarth you can’t own them in the UK not hand guns, I think farmers etc can own shot guns etc. to be fair I’m not sure but you certainly don’t see them carried around. I have never even seen one in real life let alone fired one

@LeighD America is probably headed that way. For now, I'm glad I can hunt and feed my family.

Cap and ball black powder. Cool toy..........but that's about all it's good for.

If you are knocking in nails with that I hope it’s not loaded.

@solitaire I lived in teepee for a few years. It felt appropriate.

It's a Colt 1860 Army model, .44 caliber, cap and ball revolver. It was highly valued on the American frontier and in the civil war. Can't tell if it is an original or a copy from the photo.

@Nitedoc indeed it is a replica. It shoots more accurately at 100yd than would be expected. I've been pretty happy with it over the years.

@Lostsavage Good deal. They are a lot of fun to shoot and see what they will do. Can you imagine living back then and having to use a pistol like that? I love them but they are a lot of trouble to clean and painfully slow to reload.
