It's a Colt 1860 Army model, .44 caliber, cap and ball revolver. It was highly valued on the American frontier and in the civil war. Can't tell if it is an original or a copy from the photo.

@Nitedoc indeed it is a replica. It shoots more accurately at 100yd than would be expected. I've been pretty happy with it over the years.

@Lostsavage Good deal. They are a lot of fun to shoot and see what they will do. Can you imagine living back then and having to use a pistol like that? I love them but they are a lot of trouble to clean and painfully slow to reload.
