What do you think of the Microsoft upgrade to Win11?

Poll - Total Votes: 12
Yes, Microsoft is the target of hackers and must improve its security
It just a means to generate revenue by forcing you to purchase the upgrade.
No worries. I'm buying a newer computer, and Win 11 will come with it.
Microsoft is flexing its muscles. I am going to install a different operating system and leave them

Microsoft is sort of forcing consumers to migrate to Win11, by with drawing support for Win 10 on your personal computer. Have you had experience with this migration? Is it worthwhile to migrate?

I use Windows 10 on my home computer. It runs fine. Yet the machine is too old to upgrade to Windows 11. They must know since they never even tried to push it on me. Yet since my machine is fine, I have no plans to replace it. I also have a 1 year old smartphone if I need modern apps. Most apps on my old computer are ancient, except for Chrome which seems to update automatically.

I guess I should worry if I ever do need to load a new app and it is not compatible with Windows 10 or my machine.

I do worry about malware, but all my data is backed up on the cloud or other devices. So if my computer is bricked I can recover.

I have been using Windows 11 on my work computer for a while, and it is fine.
@JoyfulSilence excellent that your data is backed up on the cloud or other devices.

My transition was rather seamless. As long as your basic computer and memory are up to snuff do it. I was worried about it but it turned out to be needless.

I recently built a system a system and buying win 11 is expensive. If you can upgrade for free then you should take advantage of it. Aside from that I have no real complaints.

I've had no issues with Windows 11 and currently run it on 4 computers. It was included on the two newer computers and a free upgrade on the others.

My old windows 10 desktop is getting senile.. So after I migrated to Linux Zoran with my spare and laptops. (supplied by my old job) I saw a refurb deal too good to resist that comes with Windows 11 installed free. So I guess I will soon know what its like..😷

@VeronicaJane Yes. Box with a lot of plug ins and a power lead that plugs into the wall. Box only. No monitor, keyboard or mouse.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman That is a good price for a refurbished Dell desktop.

@VeronicaJane A price too good to ignore.. So I didnt..😷

Yes, upgrade it to version 11. Being using it since the release. No issues to mention. Worked very well.

My computer and laptop are not upgradable to Win II. I am looking at options.
oldguy73 · 70-79, M
@exexec mine neither, so i quess i need to buy a new one

@VeronicaJane Good point. I haven't checked lately, but my PC was missing some key components for Win 11. My wife's laptop has Win 11, so at least I have something that is okay.
@exexec I am wondering about the different Win11 UI... after all, Microsoft seems to think it knows what we want, more than we do... 🙄

I hate windows, it’s 100% invasive to everything on the entire system and beyond

If I wanted security. I'd use a Unix based OS.
