Windows 11 Shenanigans

With windows 10 soon to not receive updates and the TPM requirements there is a concern of e-waste. Before throwing your system out please consider listing it. Make it a fair price and I can guarantee that a savvy Linux user will give it a new home and purpose. Perhaps you will be that Linux user.

I will probably never be a Linux user, but I hate seeing perfectly good pc hardware tossed out for no good reason.

I have been a Linux user since the Windows Vista fiasco and I don't understand why people willingly subject themselves to using Windows at this point.

I am the family tech support and Windows 11, and Office, and Outlook all being tied to One drive and other subscription services Windows is a sales funnel, not an OS.

Tossed out? Lol. I still have all of my old crap in possession. Even fire it up now and then just for nostalgic purposes. Have tried the Linux route several times but always a struggle in getting printers and other addons to properly work. It's just not setup friendly. Windows has lost me. I get everything I need done these days with the simplicity of android. I'm retired so have no further use for any Office suites and what not. I work Excel and Access, which syntax sucks as a database, at home for many years. No longer.

@Gibbon I am glad you keep your systems around and that's great. I have seen reports of people tossing out Threadrippers out to the curb. Perfectly functional systems that could have easily made them some good pocket change.

I did a little research and will be migrating to Linux Zoron. I tasked Grandson with the heavy lifting as a way of redistributing funds..😷

@496sbc https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/bypass-windows-11-tpm-requirement. This site has several options. I've never used them personally so you are on your own at this point. Good luck!

@Jessmari ohh i did that. I used flyby11 and it still didn’t work
I'll strip mine (and any others that cross my path) down for the gold inside... Ma Hooty taught me well enough on what to do to extract it.

@LordShadowfire Switching to Linux is not that hard. In fact distros like Linux Mint or Linux Lite are designed to look and behave like Windows to simplify the learning curve.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I feel like you're underestimating the difficulty my dad would have with it. The other day, I had to reteach him what double clicking was.
@LordShadowfire Ah. Got it. I am tech support for my parents so I get it.
