Predictive typing disappeared

Can anybody help? On my android tablet, predictive texting works on any typing application, and it always did on SW.

Suddenly, it stopped, but only on SW. I can't find a way to switch it on again. Annoying.

Grateful for any suggestions to bring it back. Thanks

Wish I knew how to turn it off where ever it exists. May be helpful on a smartphone for limited vocabulary. But on a full-size keyboard for a fast typist it slows you down, frequently predicts wrong, and leaves you with a lot of errors if you don't go back through and edit and over-write their predictions.

@dancingtongue Never known that kind. That would really annoy me. They treat us as if we were mentally deficient. Mind you, they're doing their best to dumb down, mix up and stupefy young people these days

@WalterF Sort of ironic, and unfortunately true, that they then turn around and call the "dumbing down" (which I've just been told should be numbing or dumping) "Artificial Intelligence".

I would love to know how you turned it off. It drives me crazy on my phone. I want to type the words I choose not the ones the program thinks I should.
Sorry I am a tech luddite and have no clue how to fix such things. I have had success with turning things off and rebooting when things get "wonky".

@bowman81 I agree absolutely. But once you've decided to type "disappointing", for example, you just have to type "disa" and the full word will appear in the suggestion bar, and you can choose it. Or, type "Im" and it will suggest "I'm", so you don't have to hunt for the apostrophe. It has its uses

Pro’s and con’s to everything. Sometimes I like it because it helps me to check my spelling but other times when you want to use words that are not real words it can get annoying.@WalterF

This may not help but I would not be surprised if this website implemented yet another imposition to make things more difficult.

@WalterF they might be so used to all this stupid updates on this website that they did not even notice. I use voice to text mostly and it does some weird things often but I don't think that's because of this forum
