I need cellphone advice... Please Help If You Can

I've never owned a cellphone and we are being forced to by the end of 2025. Our home telephone service is being discontinued by AT&T. They said they are no longer supporting our area, unless we have have employees of 50 or more. (Some crap like that)

Anyways, cellphones don't work out here in the sticks for one thing. They took out the payphone at bar a few years ago that's a few miles or so down road.

We mostly rely on CB radios here for wireless communication.

But we are getting pressured from our kids to get cellphones. But we don't like the idea of them, or the idea of tracking by Google. (Mainly Me)

What do you people think of Ubuntu Touch cellphones? That way no one can install no Google bullshit and technicality its not an android or Apple phone. Its in a class all by itself according to what I've reading

Im not familiar with that brand, but trackers are used by every app out there. Google is 1 of thousands. You have to use a search engine of some type so i would recommend Duck. The vabeat of using Duck is that it can block so much that it doesnt allow some things to load that are needed.

@PHlover19701 the point is to activate smartphone you need googel app. Exeption is buying military grade at 1300 dollars .

@Khenpal1 not for All phones. Only for Android based phones. Trust me....Apple phones want nothing to do with the Google Play store.

@PHlover19701 Yes , but there are options were apps are removed from new phone. As long as there is internat connection , using something like teleguard you dont even need phone number .

Apple is just as bad with privacy as Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and so on.

Look at the Apple Imac back 1998. That thing was loaded with spyware from the factory.

@HumanEarth I dont know if the phones would work in US, but it works in Europe . Fairphone.com
deGooggled model without US software.
