Is changing my number worth it?
Will it help with anything? I’ve recently been receiving fake wrong number checks. And I am getting tired of it. Plus, I want my number to the area I live in.

Maybe try getting on the Do Not Call registry first. Donotcall.gov
You give that a bit of time to see if that helps. Don’t give your number up to anyone else or sign up anything with companies or online; etc.
If you’re still having issues after a month, I’d change it. Same thing, though. Sign up for do-not-call again, and don’t give that number anywhere.
