@darkknightt in theory, yes. But viruses can spread between devices if your laptop is connected to the wifi as your phone too. I don't think connection them through a cable would increase the risk much, especially if you only use it to delete files and not transfer files to your phone. And proper anti-virus software is advisable for your laptop regardless of whether you connect your phone or not.
