[c=4C0073]to add to the info you got from others,
if you are used to using windows, keep in mind a chromebook uses chrome OS, not windows[/c]

Both are the same. Chromebook is more design for just web browser as laptop does a variety of jobs. It depends on the specs on it. Laptops are usually more powerful than Chromebook

A chromebook is a Google browser loaded with Google apps.
A laptop is a full operating system . either Apple or Microsoft
@FreeSpirit1 Google = world domination! I'll pass on the book! Thank you!

Laptops usually run Windows while chromebooks run chromeOS which is like a very limited and restrictive operating system that doesn鈥檛 let you do very much
@AmiBennett07 That won't work...I have MUCH to do! Thank you!

One name makes sense, the other does not.

A "laptop" is short for a "laptop computer", a computer in a package designed to be more portable than a "desktop computer", a computer which can literally sit on your lap.

A "Chromebook" is a typical ploy out of marketing/advertising, a name designed byban idiot unfamiliar either with "chrome"--a finish which used to be used on automotive bumpers, for instance--or "books", as this is neither.

(Yes, it is based upon a product which itself is software, and thus is incapable of being chrome-plated. So I suppose one could either say that the namers of the *software* product are foolish, or that the namers of the "Chromebook" compounded the idiocy by saying, "What the hell, why not call it a book, too, since we're already stuck with the 'chrome' bit...?")

Perhaps I am not so far off, if one considers the fine reply from several others, because if you shelled out a bunch of money, wouldn't you feel MUCH better having spent it for a "Chromebook" rather than for "an overpriced tablet which is trying to convince you it is a full-fledged laptop, when it's really just a very expensive browser"? Wouldn't you feel a LOT less stupid for buying the former rather than the latter? 馃槈
Thanks everyone! 馃グ

Chromebook is more of a tablet not a full laptop. Its not worth it imo
@REMsleep Yes, I see that now. Thank you

What do use it for?
TheLordOfHell41-45
Chromebooks are very, very limited on what they can do. Laptops can do lots and lots!
@TheLordOfHell THANK YOU! I am about to buy a new laptop and need that kind of info

Every Chromebook is a laptop, but not every laptop is a Chromebook.
