I feel sorry for the thousands of “lockdown pets” that were rescued as lockdown companions and then abandoned as soon as lockdown was over….

Me too.

It's happening all over the place. As soon as the restrictions were lifted, our animal shelter and all the local pet rescue organizations were and are still swamped. Right now I and many people I know are contributing food, money, etc., to individuals and organizations who are swamped with caring with these animals.

I do too. It's been ongoing problem and concern for animal shelters and rescues here in the US, too. They are overwhelmed with 'surrendered' dogs and cats, even more usual. It's hard to think about the confusion, fear and sadness those animals surely feel, being abandoned by those they thought were their people. 😞

It sucks friends of mine looking for a lifetime dog weren't able to adopt and used a breeder and now there's a million dogs without homes now.

It’s been a huge byproduct of Covid that no one talks about . Tragic really .
