Do you have a pet?

Since getting my pet kitty, my anxiety has defintely decreased even more so than my medications have helped, especially since I live alone. Essentially, they both go hand and hand.
I have two cats and a dog. They are great for anxiety and depression. When I’m having a bad day my dog doesn’t leave my side.

@Notladylike That's really great to hear!! My kitty does the exact same thing for me related to depression and anxiety. Although her long nails at the moment stress me a bit out because she scratches me playfully, but I am taking her to her vet next Monday for nail trimming. :D

Yes. Two dogs. I thought it would be better if my first dog could have companionship of another dog, but the second dog is prejudiced against other dogs. He hates them. Oops. They cuddle at night, but as soon as daytime comes, he's vowed to destroy her.
She just stares at me as he bites her ankles.

@SW-User Do they comfort you emotionally? Just curious

@JaneCas Sometimes they stress me out because they have no sense of self preservation, and keep getting into trouble.
Other times, like after my dad died, they surprised me. It seemed they were trying to protect me because they knew I was vulnerable.

I had a wonderful cat for 15 years. He is gone now and I miss him a lot. Unfortunately I live in a roominghouse where I rent 1 room, no pets allowed.

@JaneCas I am going to need a senior care facility. Some of them have cats, so I can hope mine will.

@greenmountaingal That's good! Crossing my fingers for you! 🤞

@JaneCas Yes, my kitty cat was very comforting. Whenever I felt sad or depressed, he would show up (he'd come in thru his cat door if he was outside) and rub against me and purr. He always seemed to know how I was feeling.

I went through hell trying to preserve his life when my mother became a threat to him. I was sure she would kidnap him and kill him. She threatened to do so. And to make it clear she meant business she killed our friend's cat, a cat I loved. She even bragged about it every so often just to watch me wince and become depressed. I basically had to make the decision to allow my crazy sociopathic mother to fully control my life or go to work every weekday wondering if my beloved cat would be there when I got home. My cat was my best friend, and in fact my only friend, for a long time.

I have a bird who increases my anxiety lol
thiccchungles · 22-25, F
@Wiseacre Don't get me wrong I love my bird and I would absolutely die for him (not to be dramatic) but having a parrot is probably the equivalent of having a 3 year old child lol
Wiseacre · F
Does he demand things?@thiccchungles
thiccchungles · 22-25, F
@Wiseacre Yup! All the time! Attention is the main one lol
