Why do people believe humans are animals?

I'm not an animal
indyjoe · 56-60, M
We are mammals, primates, and vertebrates...biologically we are basically animal species. We have primitive and primal instincts just like all other creatures on this planet. We are a part of the natural world whether we want to admit it or not. Everyone is entitled to believe what they wish, but being classified animal is not necessarily a bad thing.

Ok............you're a plant. Better?
@Tennessean Got me? If one looks at the economic/wages/health/life expectancy/schools/infrastructure/unemployment charts........Tennessee is the 5th from the bottom worst state in America.

@anythingoes477 Do people in Tennessee eat healthier than the people in Alabama?
@Tennessean Apparently so. Alabama rates 49th for worst state in America.

Physically we are animals. We just happen to be at the top of the food chain because of our brains.

By the original definition, we're not animals. However the definition has come to change to also include humans, so nowadays Animals is simply defined as all multi-celled beings that aren't plants.

It's an idea forced on us by evolutionistic thinking, and most often "humans are animals"
is simply a phrase to use to taunt religious people. In no circumstance is it useful other than in those scenarios.

@Tennessean Right... they're all washing machines aren't they ?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Wraithorn Read what i said again. The phrase existed long before humans were included in the definition.

I think it has to do with that pesky thing called science.
