Why do men love big dogs more than small ones?

No idea. My son has both. He is a true hearted rescuer, and he has rescued two large dogs and two small. Two of them have passed away now, but my son never shuts the door on a dog in true need.

Good question. I've always had larger dogs - from German shepherds to newfoundlands. But I have always had cats, too. I guess I don't want to confuse the two.

My dog is a Jack Russell Terrier and i prefer him over any bigger breed.
He has the heart of a lion and would fight a rottie..but he is scared of a bin bag blowing in the breeze!

The fragility of smaller dogs means that they require more care. Most people prefer larger dogs because they are less likely to succumb to injuries such as bone issues, or nostril issues.

Though these can still occur, the probability of them in smaller canine species especially of the toy variety means you will likely be spending good amounts of money on animal health.

Most men prefer their animals to be low maintenance. You give the dog a bone, it’s happy. You play with it, it’s happy. They prefer simplicity over the headaches and heartaches that come attached with smaller breeds.

As a female I prefer big dogs as well because there is more dog to pet. :)

In my case, pure laziness. It's nice having a dog i can pet without bending over. At least until he decides it's time for a belly rub.

Big dogs can be more predictable in nature, more stable, gentle, and better with strangers and children than small dogs. Protection. Some people feel protected with a large dog by their side, even if the dog happens to be gentle and friendly

I grew up in farm families with outdoor dogs that tended to be bigger breeds that roamed the farm

I like herding dogs mostly, especially collies 😍

Because if you want a little dog you're better off with a cat a dog serves a purpose a cat serves a purpose don't cross breed the two that's ridiculous a dog isn't meant to be carried in a purse or wear a sweater either

Unfortunately bigger is usually considered better. And that is unfortunately with everything and by most everyone.

I like all dogs, but I prefer small, easier to take care of. Many men who must have big dogs have a fragile male ego.

because a big dog is a companion, an ally, someone who can and might help fend off an attacker or hunt down a meal. a little dog is something that will yip at and invite attackers to come after both of you.

I figure they can't impress people any other way so they get big dogs and drive huge pickup trucks.

It is an extension of their masculinity with some and bigger dogs can do more in the way of tasks they can perform, they also better able to provide protection.

More aggressive men like big dogs. Mine is small.
