As much as I have enjoyed the pitbulls I've met and that made friends with my own dogs, I can't deny the overwhelming statistics that most fatal dog attacks are in fact carried out by pitbulls.
The statistics are made murky by the fact that people looking for aggression in their dogs or that have aggression issues themselves are (from my own experience) likely to pick out this breed. The owner definitely plays a role given that my older dog has been attacked multiple times in dog parks, but never from pitbull.
I still maintain that bad/inexperienced dog owners are mostly to blame, but there are some breeds that are more aggressive and violent than others, and pitbulls tend to fall towards the extreme end of that distribution. It's basically a problem that compounds itself

I had something similar happen with my cat a few years ago but by a couple of rottweilers, :(
And again a few years later with a stray cat we took in and a couple of mix breed dogs (dunno what breed they were exactly)
Dogs seem to be worse with this type of thing when they're in a pack, imo

Are they naturally aggresive or just more naturally sucessfully dangerous due to their particularly stronger, faster physiology?

Depends on how they're trained. My friend has one and he's the best dog I've ever met. He's really friendly n would never hurt a cat, person, or another dog. Unless the person was a threat, than he might not be so nice

From what I understand, they’re very aggressive with other animals but not so much with humans in general

A pack of any dogs can be aggressive
