Where did you get your cat from?

My sister gave me our mother's cat after she died "for company". I had always thought of getting a dog but being at work all day I didn't think it would be fair, at least cats have cat flaps or litter trays and their independence whereas some dogs hate being left alone for hours on end.
So Jasper is with me at the age of seven, and no doubt many years more.
He likes affection but likes to be left alone too. He sits on my lap purring happily so I suppose he's made his transition from mum to me.
I couldn't be without him now, as my sister said, "he's company for me."
i walked out my front door one morning to go to work and she was standing near my car lost and confused.
so i knocked on a the neighbours door and asked if any were missing a kitten and they wernt.
so i took her inside and left her a bowl of water and some scraps out the fridge. and went to work
got home, she seemed happy so i kept her.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout That was such a kind thing to do.
He is so beautiful and sounds so sweet. You are so blessed to have him. He looks exactly like one that I had. They are so faithful and loving. I can't imagine how anyone could ever hurt them or abandon them. I'm so happy that you found happiness in him.

@LadyGrace Thank you, I know my sister wouldn't have taken him to the shelter and she already has a couple of animals. I was happy to give him his new home and he already knew me so no stranger for him.
@Booksforbreakfast Oh no, she wouldn't have ever taken him to the shelter. That was such a great blessing that he already knew you. I'm sure this really played a large part in his adjusting to a different home and life. Thank you for what you did for him. Many would not have. God bless you and your beloved cat.
oh nice...a cat post....i got mine when she was 6 months old. a friend of mine happened to be talking to another lady whose daughter had to give her cat up....so now i have her. i wanted a cat just after my mom died... here she is just just after i got her.

we got one cat from a rescue shelter at the local pet store, one from a litter someone else's cat had, one turned up on a jobsite i was working on and the latest turned up in our backyard all on its own. we are officially at our bag limit on cats!
Cute name for him. Love it.

I adopted my cat from a local petting zoo. I've had him for 8 years now.
Usually the backyard. One time a cat crawled up my leg unto my back and wouldn't let go, and had to walk home to pry it off. It ended up staying.
A farm not far from us, their cat had kittens so we got too. Unfortunately one was killed a few years ago but we still have Bella

There is just a ton outside all over the place so i just put food out and they come by for a scratch or two.
We bought him from a family where the dad was severely allergic to him
