Cat got electrocuted

So my cat got electrocuted @high voltage from substation near home. Somehow he survived and now he got his back leg and tail amputated. Cant coop with the thought he has 3 legs. Is he going to walk again somehow or not?

After an adjustment period, he should be fine.

Some animals can adapt to losing a limb or two and still function and live a happy life. But, if you feel that his quality of life will not be that good then u must make the most humane decision for him. I understand that can be difficult, I have had to make that decision several times before. It's always tough but I believe they are a peace going out that way.

I’ve always heard from vets and rescues that cats and dogs are really 3-legged animals, born with a spare. ❤️
I bet your kitty will surprise you at how quickly he adapts. He’s already proven to be pretty tough!

i am really sorry. yes he will. my cat got caught in a fence while i was out of town. she showed up a week later with bones hanging out. she had chewed her leg off at the hip. we named her Princess I Hop and she is fine on 3 legs.

You would be surprised how well some animals cope with such problems and what can be done to aid them. The dog in this pics rear legs don’t work but he copes with wheels 🙂🐼🥢

@Dlrannie Ayyy. Reminds me of my Tiggy.

Yes depending on his age, I've seen cats and dogs do just fine once they figure out how to walk with only three. There used to be a cat near our last home and his owners called him tripod.

Sorry to hear this but your mind will be blown at how quickly animals adjust to three legs. It'll move pretty much just like it did before. It's a trip. Good luck.

he will walk again yes, just be there for him and rename him to lucky, and tally off a life or two from his nine

Sorry to hear it. Hope he recovers soon. There are solutions such as a prosthetic leg with or without a wheel to enable to smoother mobility. Will take him a while to recover post the shock, but he’ll be get better, certainly. Felines are incredibly resilient animals

He will eventually. I heard of things happening to cats and dogs that cause them to only have 3 legs and still survive from it. He's gonna just have to get adjusted to it. Just give him time.

Probably, Cats and dogs that have lost a leg seem to be able to learn to ope with it, and to walk again, after a fashion.

"Electrocuted" though? Not quite, as luckily, he is still alive!

A three legged cat will manage fine, they learn to adapt, my mates cat had her leg off after an accident and was fine, you'd be surprised how well they cope.
I am sorry for what happened to your cat. Many animals function just fine with 3 legs. Yours likely will. Animals adapt in time. Humans have a harder time of it.

We had to have a great leg amputated on one of ours...3 weeks later he's climbing trees again... He'll adapt... Be glad you still have him.. Hugs

My brother had a 3-legged cat some years back, and she did okay - even managed to catch a mouse or two!

Id say yes, i know of dogs with three legs and doesn't seem to slow them down much at all

He'll be fine, I've seen more than one cat in my time cope pretty well on three legs. :)

He’s going to walk fine. My sister has a three-legged dog that runs faster than her four.
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
He will be fine. Trust me. Just give him the same love and attention you always have.

Why don't you wait and see? He should be able to limp along like that.

Likely not slow him down after little recovery
Of course they can manage with three legs.
Cats and dogs are both quite capable with 3 legs

You should consult a veterinarian.

basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
He will.
Dogs and cats can walk on three legs.
My dog that passed away in 2020 walked on three legs most of her life due to her abusive previous home that hurt her leg.
Poor kitty. But chances are very good that with your love and care he will recover and go on much as before. The cool thing about animals is that they do live in the moment and without regrets.
