So many good days and one really bad day. That's the deal and I'll make it again in a minute. Sorry for your loss.

DragonBlue · 80-89, F
I’m sorry. This is always so sad. I’ve learned to just be grateful for the time they gave me so much happiness and comfort. We know as soon as we get them that their life span is limited and that is the reality we accept. We do our best to keep them happy and healthy, but in the end when it’s time to say goodbye, we do it because we love them and the loving thing to do is end their suffering. Stay with him until his last breath. Make sure he knows that it’s okay to go, and that though you’ll always love him, you will be fine. I don’t know how much they actually understand, but I treat them as if they know exactly what I mean. If I’m wrong, it won’t matter in the least, but if I’m right, then I’m giving back a little of the comfort that they have given me for all the years I was lucky enough to have them in my life.

🤔...............Sorry to hear that!..........It's always so hard when it comes that time! Dogs always show unconditional love for you! They will always be there for you!

Aww losing a beloved pet is the hardest thing 🥺🥺🥺 I was distraught when my cat since second half of childhood my early teens 🤔 developed liver or kidney disease and it quickly became apparent that the kindest thing to do was put him down a few years ago 🥺 my condolences 💐

It's one of the hardest decisions we have to make as dog owners. i'm sorry you have to go through this process.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
My condolences, I recently had to do the same with our kitten.
@Starcrossed it hurts so bad
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@LetDown100 grief is an awful thing, give yourself grace.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
take the time to grieve. the loss of a pet is sometimes more painful than the loss of a person - the dog has been a true friend and unselfish.

I won't lie, it's going to hurt - and ignore anybody that tells you to cheer up
DragonBlue · 80-89, F
@Pretzel perhaps this can be true at times, but my first born died a year and a half ago. I still cry, daily. Sometimes I wonder if it’s become a bad habit, or an addiction to grief, but whatever it is, it hurts as badly today as it did in August 2022.
Oh wow...that's really horrible.

A loss like that is devastating.

The reality of your depth of feeling shows how important your dog was to you; the grief is a testament to your long relationship, and honors it.

Sorry for this loss.

My condolences. I had to do the same a while back. I know it doesnt seem like it now, but you will be better one day with lots of good memories.
So sorry to hear as I help at a rescue and they are the best companions. Hope you can remember the happy times and how loved your dog felt.

Softandsweet2 · 31-35, F
It’s so very sad, but you will recover. I had to do that - said I would never have another dog, but I do now. I love him much, and I know I’ll have to go through hell again… but it’s worth it.

@Monalisaa1986 probably because he’s suffering from some illness and nothing can be done, in which case, the kindest thing is to put them out of their pain and misery.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
I am so sorry to hear this. It’s such a hard decision to make.
