If the vet neuters your dog/cat, does he actually take the balls or is it like a vasectomy?

Top | New | Old
It's worse than that. My vet--a fantastic vet--described that they have to scrape the tissue out (I think to make sure it does not regrow).

Apparently, it's normal to only remove the testicles, NOT the sac (and I think this is what has happened with my male dogs).

Note that preservation of the testicular sac allows the owner so motivated to get fake testicles (likely put back at the same time as the real ones are removed). Some dog shows allow "non-intact" dogs to be shown, though I believe this is a relatively recent innovation; it's my understanding that most don't allow it.

My boy’s sack came home a lot smaller after, so I’d guess it’s a complete removal of the contents.
I find this as very cruel thing to do be done to an animal.

In 2005, the "Ig Noble Prize" was awarded to Gregg Miller, inventor of "Neuticles" : prosthetic replacement testicles "to restore your dog's self esteem."

He made a fortune selling them!

Don't let a vet do it, Thevs! Go to a doctor!
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@hunkalove don’t you mean “get married”
hunkalove · 70-79, M
@Thevy29 That's way too expensive! Might as well just do it yourself!

They removes the testicles, and the truly creative vets make jewelry from them.

(Okay, I lied about the jewelry.)

They take the testicles which are then thrown into the trash

@Matt85
Owner's choice: When my aunt had her dog done she asked for his testicles so she could keep them.😏
You could ask for a vasectomy, but cutting them off is better as it makes him gentler and better behaved.

@Matt85 The way you said that makes me feel like you didn't speak to your wife a whole week after she got your dog neutered. 😅 😬
