Do Your Pets Help You When You Need Help?

That’s so sweet 😊 one of my dogs helps me and tries to help me often. She brings me my meds when she thinks I need them. She stops me when I am hurting myself unintentionally. She lays on top of me when I’m upset or crying. She guards me. She won’t let anyone hit me, even if it’s playfully. She’s just always looking out for me.
She also protects and keeps my much more clueless dog safe

@itsok She’s a keeper. Such a caring dog.

Boo-boo is smart and sweet!
My Siamese pixie was classroom mascot for students. She made many students calm down during class.
Boo-Boo is very smart.

I remember being home, in bed, sick with the flu. My dog got one of her plush toys, jumped up on the bed and gave it to me. It was the sweetest thing.

@BizSuitStacy my daughter had arthritis and all kinds of random pain when she developed lupus. She was in bed telling me her leg hurt. Told her to take a Tylenol. It didn’t seem to help, she was crying and say it hurt. I didn’t know what else to do but the little abandoned black & white cat she start taking care of jumped up on her bed and started kneading the calf of that leg and massaging it. My daughter said it was taking the pain away and the cat kept on for nearly 10 minutes until it was gone. I don’t know how the cat understood what was happening and knew what to do. But right then I decided she was a keeper. We had to move about 6 months later after someone reported us having a cat. It was either that or get rid of the cat and I couldn’t do it.
@cherokeepatti wow...amazing how the cat helped your daughter. I would have moved too...in fact, I did move when someone reported me for having a dog while living in an apartment.

@BizSuitStacy That cat was a little sweetheart. I put a crocheted afghan on my bed for her to sleep on and she would sleep next to me every night. She started laying her head on the other pillow like I did. She would watch and wait as I watched the evening news and when I put my feet on the floor to get up she would make a funny little meow sound and run to the bedroom and jump on the bed to beat me there every time.
Yes they have been very helpful to my business during a time of economic downfall. They bring customers to one of my shops after they eat the wiring harnesses out of the cars costing the customers an average of $2,000 to $3,000 damage so we can replace the wiring harnesses in their vehicles.
@cherokeepatti the only evidence they leave behind is rat turds.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@IndianaJoes pack rats will build nests under the hoods of cars in the car lot where I worked for awhile. It is in a semi-rural area and some of those vehicles were parked behind the shop to be repaired and some of them were wrecked & purchased for salvage parts. Funny when someone pops a hood and a rat jumps up. Find all kinds of things in their nests.
@cherokeepatti They will chew up the carpet and insulation too and build a nest inside the glove box. I've even seen them chew up the owners manual and registration and insurance forms for the nest.

yep, my previous dog (belgian malinois) was very helpful in keeping solicitors and Jehovahs witnesses off my property... 🤔
Boo-Boo’s so brilliant. 🥺

I had a budgie once, Balboa, who let me know when the oatmeal I had on the stove was burning. 😬
She also let me know that Adele sucked and Mariah Carey was the way to go. 😅 I couldn’t listen to Adele again till after Balboa passed away.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Colonelmustardseed Me and that bird have the same opinion about Adele.

Not with the vacuuming unfortunately.. Though i do have one cat that becomes an "under sheet inspector" when I'm changing the bed linen lol

My Aussie would help carry in groceries .
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik We had a German Shepherd that watched us unload groceries from the back of the car. We carried the bags to the deck in front of the front door. He ran up and grabbed a whole chicken out of one of the bags, it was shrink-wrapped in plastic, and he ran around to behind the house and I chased him. Never found that chicken. And he hadn’t had time to eat it yet, he must have dropped it in a hiding place to eat it later.
TexChik · F
@cherokeepatti She was a goofy dog...we only let her carry in things that were in smaller packages
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik any pet that wants to help is a keeper in my book. My uncle had a German shepherd and he would corner snakes and bark till someone came out to kill it. There were a lot of copperheads in the area too. If he could grab and shake it easily he would do that but usually liked to bark at it a while to let them know that he had a snake. A lot of times he would find the snake under their wrap around deck and kill them there. But he would also try to help my uncle. When he was cutting lower branches on the black jack oak trees and carrying them to a burn pile Rocky would pick up a smaller branch and follow him to the pile to help. Every time my uncle made a trip to carry branches the dog was right there with him helping him.

I had a chesapeake that would help me around the house.
He would bring me stuff when I asked for it.
My pets have always been the ultimate stress relievers and that's the biggest help of all.
ArtieKat · M
That's lovely! My cats have never been that helpful! 😁
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
My dog is worthless, I needed a screwdriver and asked him to get me a #2 phillips and he just looked at me like I was an idiot and went back to sleep. Wait till I tell him he is going to the pound when I get my new bird.
akindheart · 61-69, F
that is so sweet.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@akindheart I told him he was a sweet bird to help me that way.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti they are smart creatures for sure..
4meAndyou · F
Oh my gosh...adorable, intelligent, cute, feisty, and now....Boo Boo the rescue Bird!!!!! 🤣 Soon we will hear that he pulled you out of a burning building by your hair...JK!!! But that IS pretty cool!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou The sound he was making was something else. He stopped when I looked at him but kept that eyeball looking down at the pill. The color of it blended in with the carpet. I made sure I praised him well for showing me where the pill was.
