Are you the put-off or the off-putting?

Yes it's almost funny when people have found me off-putting. Many years ago hard to remember now I was in a Seattle bookstore and an older woman was acting strangely so I finally said something like, 'do I bother you? and she said back loudly 'there's a word for it, but it's not bother." it all bummed me out. And when homeless in Seattle that summer I made a point to keep myself clean

I'm a put-on.

It takes a lot to put me off. Judging by the amount of people that have blocked me and the lack of responses I get on my answers and comments. I think I must be off-putting, although I don't mean to be.
